Santa Barbara Roasting Company

321 Motor Way, Carpinteria, CA

Crema's Take

This roastery in Carpinteria fills the air with the smell of their in-house roasted beans, creating an irresistibly rustic and vintage atmosphere that's perfect for lingering over coffee or settling in with your laptop. With 20+ rotating single-origin options alongside their espresso and pour-over program, there's real depth here for coffee enthusiasts, though the pastry program seems hit-or-miss. The sunny California location, generous refill policy, and calm, inviting vibe make it an ideal spot for both quick visits and extended hangs—just come for the coffee, not the food.

Coffee lovers must try! The coffee smell all around this cafe is amazing! The vibe is rusty and vintage. You get free refills too!

$8.50 for a breakfast bagel that was overcooked in the microwave. The bagel cooled to a rock hard block. Coffee in a mug is on my good for refills for one hour, seriously.... you ate a coffee shop. You are not a small business, and have been open for 25 years. Surely free refills for more than an hour are merited. Both of the breakfast sandwiches were overcooked in the microwave. Don't make your poor quality controls documented here an unreasonable review. Santa Barbara Coffee Company (also known as Santa Barbara Roasting Company or "RoCo") is a private company, and its annual earnings reports are not publicly disclosed. However, some business data services provide estimated annual revenue figures: Revenue: Approximately $4 million per year.

This place rocks - they have 20+ coffees you can choose from, and they roast their beans in-house! It makes for an amazing smell and ambiance if you get to hangout while you drink your coffee. I really liked their Papua New Guinea roast. The best part about this place, is you can buy one cup of coffee and try as many roasts as you’d like before you choose to get a full cup. Then, if you stay to drink it there, you can refill it as much as you’d like. Loved it here!!!

We went to have breakfast every day of our vacation here. The atmosphere is beautiful, especially if the day is sunny, the decoration of the place and the drinks is a dream. The super complete and nutritious meal for a complete breakfast.

The coffee was outstanding—rich and full of flavor. I also really enjoyed the strawberry banana fruit smoothie; it was refreshing and perfectly blended. The atmosphere was calm and inviting, with soft music playing in the background, making it a great place to unwind
