Crema's Take

Yego is a tucked-away Somerville gem that excels with espresso-forward drinks like silky flat whites and perfectly balanced cortados, paired with buttery pastries like their standout spinach feta croissant. The bright, airy space with high ceilings and natural light strikes that rare balance between laptop-friendly and genuinely inviting, making it feel like a local favorite that's earned its loyal following through consistency rather than hype. While opinions on their espresso vary, their pour overs and cold brew round out a thoughtfully curated menu that rewards both the discerning coffee drinker and the casual café visitor.

I tried Yego today and unfortunately was not impressed with their espresso quality--very harsh/acidic. The interior decor reminds me of a cheaply remodeled airbnb or maybe a school cafeteria. The staff was extremely friendly, so 3 stars not their fault at all.

Cute local cafe with solid and affordable drinks. Stopped by a handful of times after a recommendation from a colleague who lives nearby. The space is small and tucked a bit away from Somerville’s main squares, so it rarely gets hectic. More of a quiet pop-in spot for the locals. Their masala chai latte is apparently their most popular menu, and I liked it. Warm, aromatic, smooth, and the sprinkle of cinnamon powder gives just enough chai vibes. The matcha latte was decent, though not quite as balanced. Food options are limited to pastries, but the feta cheese danish I tried was flaky with a savory edge that paired well with the drinks. Not necessarily somewhere to make a special trip for, but a solid neighborhood stop if you’re already in the area and want something low-key and affordable.

Stopped by Yego Coffee in Somerville and tried the feta and spinach croissant — really great combo of flaky and savory. The latte was smooth with just the right touch of bitterness from their beans. Cozy vibe, friendly staff, and quality coffee all around. Definitely a spot worth revisiting.

Indeed, a very well-made flat white! I really like the concept of this café and had been wanting to visit for a while. I ordered a flat white and a cold brew—both were excellent. They also offer pour-over options, though unfortunately, I visited at a time when they weren’t able to make one. Totally fine though—I’ll be back next time to try their Rwanda bean on pour-over. Overall, it was a great experience. The café has a relaxing atmosphere and isn’t too crowded, which makes it perfect for enjoying coffee peacefully.

Cortado was perfect, nice and strong. The spinach feta pastry would be better if it was heated to be hotter than lukewarm. Staff are great and the shop is spacious with high ceilings and natural light. Nice to have such a premium coffee place so close.
