Crema's Take

Hydra Coffeehouse is where Rochester goes for thoughtfully crafted espresso drinks elevated by housemade syrups like their celebrated Bear blend of honey, cinnamon, and cardamom—expect quality over sweetness, with baristas who genuinely know their craft. Beyond the excellent coffee, their pastry case is a real draw, featuring everything from vegan breakfast sandwiches to gluten-free baked goods and savory quiches that pair perfectly with your cup. It's a genuine community gathering spot with real character, though fair warning: outlets are limited if you're planning a long work session.

One of Rochester's best coffee shops! The flavor quality of their lattes is top notch, their unique and delicious syrups are fun to try, and they have a tasty variety of pastries too. As for their environment, it's one of my favorites in all of Roc! 10/10 would recommend : )

Very nice coffee shop with very good and strong coffee drinks. Not a ton of super sweet style drinks listed. Staff were excellent and many people working, but not many outlets. Upstairs was more comfortable for seating didn’t have food but options looked good and case looked good. Parking tough by dogtown but plenty of off street parking if you don’t mind a short walk. Liked the “window frame “ art.

New favorite coffeehouse. Lovely atmosphere with real baristas who know how to make quality drinks! Vegan breakfast sandwich is amazing, probably my go-to vegan breakfast option in Rochester. They always offer a few vegan baked goods as well.

Fantastic coffee house that serves a good choice of hot drinks and a yummy selection of pies, quiches and baked goods. We ordered the Gluten free Coconut Cream Pie that was absolutely delicious. Chai latte and Sunup Coffee were good. The fabulous artwork dotted around the cafe is for sale too. Extra seating is available upstairs. Bathroom was immaculate. Parking was a tad squishy.

The Bear housemade syrup (honey, cinnamon, cardamom) in a hot oatmilk latte was SOO good, and the gluten free lemon raspberry cookie was surprisingly so so good like I couldn’t tell it was gluten free and the icing was delicious. They have some really good sounding housemade flavors, plus several lovely looking pastries. The inside is beautiful with lots of plants and a variety of seating, including a cozy upstairs. There is free WiFi and some outlets as well. People use the space for meetings so there’s often a bit of a buzz but it’s great to have a space with ample comfortable seating where you can wear headphones and get work done or whatever. The bananas foster syrup was also so good in a latte and the blackberry raspberry jam bar was delightfully tart.
