Crema's Take
“Bodhi Leaf Coffee Traders has earned genuine loyalty from regulars who return year after year, making it a trusted neighborhood anchor in Orange County with multiple locations. What sets them apart isn't just their consistently good espresso drinks—though their flat whites and seasonal offerings like the toffee nut latte hit the mark—but their serious commitment to serving home coffee roasters with a thoughtfully curated selection of green beans and helpful guidance. The spacious, well-parked location on Katella feels like the kind of place where both casual coffee drinkers and passionate home roasters feel equally welcome.”

We have been coming to this Bodhi Leaf on Katella for the last 5 years based on a recommendation from a local friend, who loves coffee. Every time we are in Orange to visit family, we find ourselves at this Bodhi Leaf. We’ve drank no other coffee at home since. And I live in Seattle. My husband and I have been ordering their 5-lb bags by mail every few weeks for years. (Yes we drink a lot of coffee.) Our houseguests rave about this. We sent a pound home with my mother-in-law to Cape Cod last time she was here. I think she’s been having them ship out to her now. The cafe is light and airy. People—not just the staff—are friendly. It has an ambience of chill. I once dropped in while they were roasting beans up front. The aroma was heady and suddenly *had* to start working at the counter bar in front of the roaster for the next hour. I usually go back to their enormous warehouse and buy a few pounds of coffee beans to go, filling up a quarter on my carryon suitcase. The warehouse and office guys are so nice and helpful. They’ve had limited runs of coffees from the African highlands that were not on their webstore the last couple of times I was there. And boy! Did I ever snap those up, slinking out of the store with them tucked up in my coat, saying “my precious!” under my breath. My friend from Ethiopia, who lives up here in Seattle, asked about green coffee beans because she roasted them at home literally like in the old country. Well. I have a surprise for her.
I’ve visited a couple other Bohdi Leaf locations. They have multiple locations across OC. Parking: This location has a medium sized parking lot. Finding a spot can be easy because people are constantly going in n out. Ambiance/Environment: They have a large space with plenty of indoor seating and limited outdoor seating. Love the modern woodsy/barn theme. Perfect spot to have business conversations, catch up with friends, or get some work done. They also sell merch and coffee beans. Service: Daniela was the cashier that assisted me. She was simply nice and efficient. Throughput was quick after ordering; it took about 5 min. Drinks & pastries: I ordered a 16 oz iced flavored latte with butterscotch. It wasn’t really sweet. The coffee flavor came through, but the butterscotch was lacking a bit. The caramel notes were really light. During my first visit a few years ago, I remember their mochas were really chocolatey, and the pastries were delicious. Pricing: They offer rewards through Cash App. I don’t really like Cash App rewards because it doesn’t offer much. Prices definitely went up. It cost a bit more than usual, especially for a 16 oz.
Saw this place while driving by in Orange. It is a decent size coffee shop with a lot of options. We just tried a flat white. It was actually pretty good. Would like to come back and try more coffee here.👍
They’re located at the corner of shopping center with plenty of parking. It’s pretty spacious inside and their seasonal drinks are so good. Toffee nut latte has the right mix of bitter espresso and sweet toffee taste. Their vanilla nut latte is little bit on the sweeter side from the coconut foam on top. Their sandwiches are huge and fulfilling. Overall their price is very reasonable for the taste and atmosphere! Recommended 👍
Most of my Bodhi experience is with buying green coffee. There aren’t many local places for home coffee roasters to get beans. Bodhi’s selection is pretty good, their website is helpful when selecting coffee, and they are happy to talk through the challenges of roasting coffee. The warehouse guys are awesome. In addition, they have cupping classes and roasting competitions, occasionally - very fun and helpful! They roast their coffee on sight and their drip coffee is delicious! (Definitely ’coffee snob’ worthy). I can’t speak to their flavored drinks, but my experience with their employees has always been friendly.
