Crema's Take

Scottish Bakehouse excels at the full breakfast-and-lunch experience where the pastries and sandwiches genuinely outshine the coffee, making it more of a destination bakery cafe than a specialty coffee stop. If you're on Martha's Vineyard seeking generous portions, reliable catering-quality food, and a reliable local spot for a leisurely sit-down meal, this delivers consistently, though the coffee itself is traditional rather than adventurous. The vibe skews toward island regulars and event-goers rather than coffee enthusiasts hunting for single-origins or precision technique.

What to expect

Classic coffee drinks done right. A slow-sit spot, good for meetings. Full breakfast, pastries, and light food on the menu.

My favorite spot for sandwiches and pastries on the island! I’ve been coming here for years, and both the service and food have been consistently excellent. The portions are generous, so I usually have leftovers for a second meal. The last thing I had was a linguiça sandwich…

Visited in the morning on a Sunday in late August. Busy little shop, good amount of parking and outdoor seating. Friendly staff. Nice range of baked goods, sandwiches/burgers, pretty tasty coffee. Had a good visit here and would happily return again at some point in the future.
