I’m glad they got rid of their couches and pillows. While it was cozy, they were visibility very dirty. I could see why old customers have left low rating due to a change in ambience but that’s unfair for a new owner. I love that the place is more wide open, bright & airy. Update Second visit: Customer Service could be more welcoming.

I love Java & Mug, it is my favorite cafe and place to do homework in Chicago. My favorite items on the menu are the dalgona latte, the banana milk latte, the pepperoni pizza croffle and the strawberry matcha bingsoo. Its usually not too busy and the staff is nice.

This is my favorite Chicago cafe by far! The quiet ambience is great for studying with piano music playing in the background. It has a simple clean aesthetic with many varieties of seating and outlets with most tables. The drink menu is vast and everything I’ve tried here is delicious! I would recommend the strawberry matcha bingsoo as it is my favorite!
