Elevation Coffee
1110 Paseo Del Pueblo Norte, Taos, NM
Crema's Take
“Elevation Coffee has earned devoted regulars in Taos with its espresso-focused drinks and welcoming atmosphere, though the experience can be inconsistent depending on who's behind the counter that day. The shop shines when staffed by experienced baristas like Mary, who create genuinely balanced specialty lattes with thoughtful flavor integration rather than syrup-forward sweetness, and it's clearly a beloved community gathering spot for locals seeking quality coffee in a relaxed setting. Just be aware that service quality varies, and this is definitely a place where the personal touch from the right barista can make all the difference.”

Very limited options. Why is this rated so high? They didn’t get their shipment that week so all they had was frozen bagels that they took out of the fridge. We were hoping to stop here for a quick bite before skiing but had to take time out to go somewhere else.
I appreciate this place and have come here often in my time growing up in Taos (Janet the owner was my camp counselor). This most recent time I was met with a barista with an extremely bad attitude. I walked up in a good positive way, said hello, smiled, and then requested my order. She rolled her eyes and looked upset for some reason. I ordered a half-caf Americano with cream and cold foam, not too complicated. I get being stressed and not enjoying your job but if you are gonna not even attempt to be nice then what is the point of being there? Will not be returning...
Rude. Don't come here if you're not a local. The lady was awful. I got a large latte with Hazelnut syrup, it's barely hot, way too sweet, and tastes like there is only one shot of espresso in it. So bad. I did get a pastry too, haven't eaten it yet but I'm just gonna get some gas station coffee instead, this is trash. Edit to add that she cleared out my order when I was trying to enter my phone number to get a receipt so I couldn'tfinishentering my number, and I will be checking my credit card statement to make sure I was charged the correct amount. Shady, rude, bad coffee.
When I was stationed up in Tres Piedras May-August 2021 for Forest Service, this was my absolute favorite haunt in town. My main barista was named Mary and we became fast friends because she was so personable, helpful, hilarious, always eager to serve, and wonderful to just talk to. She left soon after my seasonal position ended, but all other baristas are equally kind and dedicated to pleasant experiences. They make fantastic drinks, carry amazing treats, and have the coolest atmosphere of local art covering the walls and always rotating. The owner has land that he uses the coffee grounds to help the soil and several art pieces in the place have coffee grounds saved by the owner, used by local artists. He has an eco-friendly focus, and the place also uses straws made from natural materials (the best ones were bamboo). Dog friendly (met several dog friends), indoor and outdoor seating, free wi-fi, and plenty of power outlets. Absolutely great place for students, business, and all around leisure with a lovely patio to boot. I miss this place and always try to stop in whenever I end up back in Taos. Please give it a try! (I will add more photos later)
Amazing coffee. I can see why they won #1 for Taos’s best! Full bodied flavor coffee. Ordered a hazelnut latte and a pumpkin spice latte. Both were perfect with notes of flavor, not an overwhelming sweet coffee like the other places. Top 5 coffees all time for me, and I’ve tried a lot of places!
