Common Grounds Coffee Shop

Crema's Take

Common Grounds is a genuine third place in Lakewood where the coffee is just the beginning—think weekly board game nights, local artist displays, pinball machines, and sip-and-paint events that actually draw a community of regulars. The specialty drinks like their Liquid Thin Mint and Liquid Chocolate Covered Banana are creative and reasonably priced, making it an easy spot to linger for hours with friends, a laptop, or a date. This is the kind of place people wish existed in their own cities, with an infectious energy that comes from locals who genuinely gather here to connect.

Only giving this place 2 stars bc the cashier WAS actually quite friendly, but the atmosphere gave the most creepy, weird vibes, and the coffee AND cookie were gross. Appreciate the friendliness, but I won't be back.

I don't live in the Cleveland area but I visit a lot. I was introduced to this place on my current visit, and I wish there was a place like this where I'm from! I've came here twice this week for some tea and time to work on my book. Based on my limited experience here, seems like Common Grounds is an LGBTQ+ friendly safe haven for creative folks, night owls, and even D&D players. I've seen artists drawing, friends playing games, and individuals just coming to study or take a beat. This truly feels like a third space, the staff is sweet and welcoming, it was definitely a good spot to nerd out. The best part is that it's open until 2AM, and as someone who gets their best work done late at night, I literally dream of a place like this closer to me. We NEED spaces like this more than ever right now!!

A great selection of fun drinks - the “liquid thin mint” and the “liquid chocolate covered banana” were particular favorites. Friendly and efficient service and plenty of seating.
