Hi-Top Tavern

Crema's Take

This beloved Portland tavern excels at crafting both alcoholic and zero-proof drinks with real creativity—think house-made shrubs in their non-alcoholic hot toddies—while offering a genuinely welcoming space for lingering with friends, dogs welcome included. The heated patio is a particular gem, spacious and partly covered, making it perfect for Portland's drizzly weather, and their solid snacks and full breakfast menu mean you're well-fed while you settle in for the long sit.

Great bar to catch up with friends and loved ones! I got a non-alcoholic hot toddy. It was delicious! The 'shrub' is made in-house. Highly recommended Cozy and comfortable seating. The staff are courteous, professional, and accommodating

What a great tavern. Diverse drink menu, including excellent zero-proof beverages. We enjoyed the heated patio with our dogs, which you can access without entering the interior. The Cubano sandwich was delicious.

We stopped here during the Fremont Festival because it was the restaurant with enough seating or our large group and was child friendly. After finding your own seating, you go to the bar and order/pay for food, then take your number to the table and they will bring your food to you. It's bigger than it looks from the outside and there were plenty of seating options. They have indoor and outdoor tables. I didn't see a kids menu, but the grilled cheese sandwich for $10 comes with chips and would likely please most kids. We did see lots of little kids with their parents! I was pleased with a turkey sandwich, flavorful and filling at a good price. The chips tasted home made and were not too salty or oily. It was a very busy day, so it did take a while for our food to come, but I feel like we had great service and that the staff was very friendly and helpful. The only thing they need to do is turn the music down... It was a bit loud and made it difficult to visit.

So this was my first visit to Hi-Top Tavern and I would say the place was decent. I would not say they were knocking it out of the park or anything, but at the same time there are no negatives either. The staff was friendly enough and attentive and the food was good although a little unique in style. Not bad, just a little different than what I am used to. I guess its always good to try new things. They could expand their beer menu a bit if I had to pick one thing out. Overall, the visit was good.

Love their patio area as it's pretty spacious and also a portion that is covered. The drinks here are solid with the staff being super friendly and quick at getting the drinks out. The snacks here are great, especially the pork nachos. I really like their cheese sauce. It has a good texture and great flavor to it. It doesn't dry up at all. It's a definite must order item. It will go good with the old fashioned.
