I love Yemeni coffee shops! I was pleasantly surprised to see one opening in Huntsville. On my first visit I ordered the Adani Chai, the Baklava, and the white cheese and zataar manakeesh (Lebanese pizza). Everything was delicious. The decor is awesome, and you can tell they put a lot of hard work into the atmosphere. I’m glad to see that they are staying busy because I hope to come here many times in the future :D
This is a very friendly and chill place. I had not had coffee or tea like this before. I asked some questions and they were more than willing to help. I think that says a lot for the company. They were friendly and hopeful. The big goods were tasty however maybe cuz it was later in the day a bit oily on the bottom. Will come back and try again. Great place for an afternoon coffee. Great place to hang out with some friends and chit chat.
Wonderful coffee shop. I had no clue what in the world a Yemen coffee shop would be but it's fantastic. For anyone as clueless as me here's some tips. They do not overdue flavors or spice, everything is perfectly balanced in all of their products. The flat bread with the oil and herbs is divine! Its got a perfect green herb blend with toasted sesame and some lemon juice that makes it a perfect snack! And only $3. Now onto the main event. The coffee
To get the chance to experience something really different in the world of coffee and tea is such a treat. Walking in the place the atmosphere is bright and it feels very open. Lots of seating space to enjoy your drink. The staff is phenomenal. They were all so friendly and you can tell they are passionate about what they do. The Adani chai was out of this world, I do suggest grabbing a few sugar packets because it packs a punch. Their iced latte had a very balanced flavor as well, they add a chai syrup to it that adds a hint of spice that is wonderful. Very excited for this addition to huntsville's coffee scene and I am looking forward to going back and trying out more drinks as well as the bakery items!
I stopped by Qahwtea Coffee & Bakery in Huntsville during their soft opening (February 2026), and it genuinely felt like more than just a coffee stop — it felt intentional. The space is modern but grounded, with tile floors, natural wood, and exposed brick, all blended with old-world Yemeni design. No loud music, no rush — just a calm, welcoming environment that encourages you to slow down. Their slogan, “Not just a coffee — it’s a culture, history, experience,” isn’t marketing fluff. It shows. The owner was incredibly proud and generous with his time, explaining Yemen’s role as the birthplace of coffee culture. About 80% of what’s in the shop is imported directly from Yemen, including the coffee beans. They don’t roast in-house, staying true to traditional sourcing, and they’re intentionally working toward a low-sugar and vegetarian-friendly bakery menu, which is refreshing to hear upfront. One of the most striking features in the shop is a decorative wall panel written in Musnad, an ancient South Arabian (Yemeni) script used over 2,000 years ago by civilizations like Sabaʾ (Sheba). It’s not Arabic — it predates Arabic — and seeing it used thoughtfully instead of as generic décor speaks volumes about how seriously they take cultural authenticity. They didn’t even charge me for my coffee during the soft opening, which was unexpected and appreciated. The official grand opening is planned for March 2026, and if this preview is any indication, Qahwtea is going to be a meaningful addition to Huntsville — not just another café, but a place with roots. This is the kind of spot you come back to not just for caffeine, but for atmosphere and story.
