Crema's Take

Teaspoon Hostetter draws crowds with an impressive range of tea options and creative toppings, though execution can be inconsistent—their real taro and black sugar drinks show promise but sometimes miss the mark on texture and sweetness balance. The bright, clean space and genuinely friendly staff make it a solid quick-grab spot in San Jose, though regulars suggest exploring the many competing tea shops nearby if you're seeking a truly standout experience. At fair prices, it's a comfortable middle-ground option worth trying, especially if you're willing to customize your order carefully.

I ordered black sugar assembly, honey boba should be included. But there is nothing. 😭

Got the taro lover and I did not love it. They definitely use real taro but I don't think it's cooked well enough as its crumbly and starchy instead of creamy and flavorful like I'm used to. The drink flavor itself was too sweet even though I got less sweetness and the boba was bland with an okay texture. This drink is way better than anything I can get in monterey so I'll give it above average 6/10 rating, but it does not compare well to the amazing boba options nearby in san jose

With so many tea options near by I don't think I'd revisit this location. Overall it's basically mid, it wasn't bad but was just ok at best. Pricing wise it is line with the norm so maybe a different drink would be better then what I got. Their fries though we're really nice so that's a plus.

We ordered Black Sugar Assam and Milk Black Tea with boba. The Black Sugar Assam can't adjust the sweetness, so it turns out way too sweet to me. The milk black tea is okay. But it doesn't seem less ice to me when we put less ice on the order.
