Old Glory Cafe
104 E Kimberly Ave, Appleton, WI
Crema's Take
“Old Glory Cafe captures genuine small-town Wisconsin character with its veteran-centered atmosphere—walls lined with military memorabilia, flags, and personal artifacts that tell real stories rather than just decorate. This is a no-frills diner where you settle in for a slow breakfast or their notably generous Friday fish fry, with friendly service and honest pricing that keeps locals coming back for that comforting, unpretentious start to the day.”

Went in recently on Saturday with some friends for breakfast before work and the server, and older gentleman, was extremely rude to one of my friends who was with us. When asked if she could change her order (he hadn’t even left the table yet) he told her he’d have to charge her and said it in all seriousness. Then when she said it was fine she asked to see the menu to make sure what she wanted on her food was fine, he then tossed the menu on the table (didn’t even hand it back) and said, very rudely “I’ll be back” and then didn’t give us the time of day for the remainder of service. Very poor experience we had there. Service is rated two stars cause there were two teenage bussers who were very friendly. I feel bad for them to have to work with someone so rude. Hopefully he doesn’t treat the younger staff the way he treats guests.
Literally Hometown Wisconsin vibes in a diner. Nothing schmoozy or over the top. Just great food. Humble service. We love coming here for a slow morning and easy start to our day. Very comforting for tried and true Wisconsin folks :)
The price was nice on breakfast. Good coffee. Went back for Friday fish, and it was pretty great. The pieces are like big walleye filets, so again, the value is there. Plenty of fries, too. Fish on... Damn tasty chili, too!
The atmosphere of this restaurant is based upon Veterans. There is war memorabilia. There is also personal memorabilia, such as eagles and photos of Encampments, there are flags, made of cloth and made of whatever a veteran decided to make a flag upon. It is everything that Veteran deserves and would expect to find. The food and the service were excellent. This restaurant deserves your visit, if not for the atmosphere for you to say thanks To the people that provi did your freedom.
It's an amazing place! Love the veteran and American pride feel to this place. It is a cozy place lots of military artifacts. The food was so good. The older gentleman was so sweet and funny. Making jokes. The kitchen lady even came out and chatted with us. Nice family feel to this place. Loved the chicken fried chicken and gravy!
