Crema's Take
“This beloved Pasadena institution excels at the art of the leisurely breakfast, where the staff—particularly standouts like Pedro and Adriana—genuinely remembers your name and keeps your coffee flowing without asking. The kitchen delivers consistent classics like perfectly crisp waffles and huevos rancheros that taste like they've been perfected over decades, making it the kind of place where families return for years and consider it an anchor of their neighborhood.”

One of my favorite spots in Pasadena. I come here often and the food is always fresh and consistent. Pedro and the crew are excellent — friendly, hardworking, and they always take good care of customers. You can tell the team takes pride in what they do. Definitely a place I keep coming back to.
Food and service is always good. Been coming here for years. Great family meal deals. Place is always clean. Adriana is the best! Always with a smile.
Great spot for breakfast. The huevos rancheros were delicious and my family loved the pancakes. I also appreciate that they come around and keep your coffee topped off. The staff is always welcoming when we visit, and Pedro is especially courteous.
I’ve been coming to Tom’s Famous Family Restaurant in Pasadena for a very long time, and it continues to be one of those rare places that never disappoints. The food is consistently delicious and the portions are generous. What really stands out, though, is the people. The team is genuinely kind, welcoming, and attentive. You’re always greeted with a smile, the service is warm and efficient, and they make the whole place feel easy and comfortable in the best way. Tom’s has that classic neighborhood diner feeling - good food, good energy, and people who actually care. And of course, there’s always someone making the rounds with the timeless question: “More coffee?” - your cup barely gets a chance to rest. If you want a place with hearty breakfast and a staff that knows how to make people feel at home, Tom’s is a Pasadena staple for a reason.
The breakfast plate was a comforting classic done right — a perfect start to the morning. The golden waffles were crisp on the outside yet soft and fluffy inside, soaking up butter and syrup beautifully without turning soggy. The bacon was just the right level of crispy, with a smoky flavor that balanced the sweetness of the waffles. The scrambled eggs were light, well-seasoned, and cooked to a tender texture rather than dry or rubbery. Paired with a steaming cup of hot coffee that was rich and aromatic, the whole meal came together with a satisfying harmony of flavors. It’s the kind of breakfast that feels both hearty and simple — just delicious food made with care. In addition to bringing food to the table and coffee refills without asking!
