Crema's Take

This petite gluten-free bakery punches well above its weight with inventive mochi donuts and fresh daifuku that keep customers coming back for the rotating seasonal flavors. The tiny shop radiates genuine warmth—staff are unfailingly polite and welcoming—making it feel like a neighborhood gem rather than just a quick coffee stop, though its matcha drinks and specialty beverages pair perfectly with pastries for a leisurely sit-down visit.

I recently visited and unfortunately, it didn't quite live up to expectations like I thought from their IG posts. As someone who's Asian and also visits Japan regularly, I was hoping for that soft, pillowy, delicate texture that almost melts in your mouth. Instead, the mochi was slightly hard and a bit chewy in a way that didn't feel fresh or traditional. The sweetness level was another issue. The flavors, including hojicha and strawberry cream were overly sweet - almost like ordering boba at 100% sugar. My mom had a piece and confirmed as well. It felt like the flavors here are adjusted more for an American sweet tooth rather than staying true to the more balanced, subtle sweetness you'd fine in Japan. Overall it's not terrible but overhyped in my opinion. The workers were nice and I do think it's nice that the owners try to recreate different things weekly. This place is great probably for a more American palate but if you're Asian and or like things less sweet, this isn't the place.

On a whim I stopped by while running errands. It’s a TINY shop on the side of a shopping area. Even though it’s tiny its got so much character and everyone is very welcoming. There was a little bit of confusion of what gluten was but quickly clarified that everything is gluten free. Which for someone with a gluten allergy is music to my ears. I tried 4 of the mochi donuts. If you not familiar with mochi donuts they are different than regular donuts. Denser and more chewy. For someone who hasn’t had a regular donuts in 10 years and have only had bakery gluten free attempts these are flippin delicious. S’Mores - The marshmallow fluff in the middle was a little too sweet for me but the dark chocolate glaze tempered it. A touch of flaked sea salted might help balance. I still recommend if you like s’mores. Matcha Pistachio - You need to LOVE matcha to like this flavor. I’m not a big fan of regular matcha so this wasn’t my favorite. However, the matcha they use is of obvious premium quality. Earl Grey - I really enjoyed the subtle flavor. You don’t get the earl grey until the backend but it’s not overpowering. Perfect sweetness. Caramel Miso - Hands down my favorite. It’s sweet, it’s slightly savory. I should have gotten 3 more for the road. I 1000% will be back. Cannot recommend them enough. If you need a gf donut fix, this place is the bomb dot com.

A fantastic choice for anyone who likes donuts, fun new flavors, and amazing customer service! The Mochi Shop makes the best mochi donuts and daifuku mochi I have ever had, and their constantly changing flavor combinations can’t be beat. On top of that, everything in the shop is gluten-free, which makes it perfect for someone with celiac disease like myself! The customer service is always top-notch, and you can tell that they really love what they do! The owner is very down to earth and willing to help with any issues you might come across. If I could rate this store higher than five out of five stars, I absolutely would! It is my go to place for a sweet treat and I find myself stopping here usually at least once a week! I look forward to seeing how they grow in the future!

This place is charming! The staff are absurdly polite and the servings are all really good. This is indeed a coffee and matcha shop with mochi inspired donuts. If you are seeking a gluten free option(s) or are avoiding seed oils this is also the place for you. The donut textures and flavor are so good and made with love, it’s pretty obvious. Usually my partner and I eat sweets only Sundays but we avoid this place because we can’t resist the donuts! Needless to say we still go several times a week and get a caffeinated beverage and chat with the owner. I can’t stress enough what a joyful little place this is and the quality of ingredients and care. Amazing.

Edit: presuming your doughs are made fresh daily, we picked up our box at 2pm closing time, which would be what was offered to someone who shopped at 1:50pm. I was lucky to get flavors I like. Pumpkin spice, key lime and matcha are all flavors I enjoy in other food options. You are correct- as I stated originally - Well, this isn't a donut. I wouldn't get these if you think you are getting a donut or even a cake doughnut... We got these to try, through To Good To Go and from the first bite it was an unexpected texture and flavor. The chewy is more than chewy it is almost not done enough. They are too dense and heavy for my liking. The odd flavor is not to my liking. The pumpkin icing was nice, the cream cheese too runny. The lime icing was flavorful- but the fauxnut not tasty. The green donut with dark donut underneath was just horrible, taste and texture. Everyone tried the pumpkin and it was the best of the three we tried, still the chewy texture is a miss for my house. I'm not sure how they have the rating of all 5's. Not our bag baby!!
