Crema's Take
“This historic New Haven institution seamlessly blends old-world elegance with genuine warmth, offering a dark and sophisticated refuge where you can settle in with specialty coffee, craft cocktails, or premium cigars in leather-appointed rooms that feel like stepping into another era. What truly sets it apart is the legendary ventilation system that keeps the air pristine despite the indulgent atmosphere, plus staff who make everyone feel welcome whether you're a cigar aficionado or just drawn in by the magnetic vintage charm and storied past. The eclectic vibe attracts everyone from serious smokers to casual coffee seekers, all united by appreciation for a place that's somehow both refined and unpretentious.”

The Owl Shop in New Haven is a really cool spot with a great atmosphere. I first stopped by on Friday night around 9pm, but it was absolutely packed with no room to sit or even stand comfortably, so we decided to leave and come back another time. We returned Saturday around 1pm and it was much less busy, which made the experience a lot better. I ordered a coffee and asked the bartender for a recommendation on a small cigar that would pair well with it. He gave a great suggestion and it was exactly what I was looking for. The staff clearly know their cigars and were very helpful. The only reason I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5 is that there really isn’t a cigar menu. To see what’s available you have to walk around and look at the shelves along the walls, which can be a little difficult if you’re not a cigar expert(or on a busy day/night when every one is shoulder to shoulder). They do have an online list, but it only shows the brands without pricing. If there was a clear menu with brands and pricing, this would easily be a 5-star experience. Parking can also be a bit difficult, but that’s pretty normal for anywhere in the city. Overall, it’s a great place to visit when it’s not too crowded and I’ll definitely be back.
Very cool place to grab a cigar and a drink. Old school rustic interior with wood walls and leather couches and chairs. Service was sporadic at times and certain popular cigar brands were oddly unavailable. Still, an excellent experience
I don’t even smoke and this place is so cool. The atmosphere is incredible. The staff is welcoming. The history of this place is worth the visit.
What a unique and great place. Terrific seating areas throughout the shop. Full bar! The ventilation system is incredible, absolutely no smoke in the air somehow. As the night progressed was shocked to see the number of younger people smoking cigars. Definitely worth the trip. Stop in with some friends you won’t be disappointed!!
Loved the vibe- dark, calm and elegant. I’m not a cigar expert but. The one I had was really good. Great place to chill with coffee, a drink, or a cigar. I’ll definitely be back.
