Crema's Take
“Chik & Chucks is a beloved Filipino bakery that's become a Portland rarity, faithfully preserving authentic recipes while keeping the warm, family-friendly spirit of its predecessor alive. Their pastries—from perfectly flaky beef empanadas to silky ube creations and a halo-halo that rivals the real deal—skip the artificial shortcuts entirely, delivering genuine Filipino flavors that locals have been craving for years. It's the kind of small, unassuming gem where you can grab something quick and delicious, whether you're after a comforting pandesal or exploring the full spectrum of their freshly made sweet and savory offerings.”

Have been wanting to try this place for awhile and it was amazing. True authentic flavors. No in-your-face artificial stuff. Real ube flavors. They had a really good mix of savory and sweet options. I got the pinoy breakfast burritos with garlic rice and it was to die for. Would highly recommend stopping by and getting anything and everything!! The gentleman helping me was also so incredibly kind and had great recommendations!
Amazing bakery! Have been visiting for years now when it was formerly St. Barbra’s Bakery. I was so worried when I saw it had “shutdown” but not to worry! Chik and Chuck stay true to the original recipes and prices I’ve grown accustomed to. Ordered a cheese ensayama, ube pandesal, and ube cookies. Delicious and reasonable!! I hope Chik and Chuck will thrive and continue this special pinoy bakery’s legacy.
Filipino bakeries are rare to find, so discovering this little gem in Portland was such a treat! The shop may be small, but the selection is packed with delicious, freshly made pastries. We couldn’t resist and ended up taking home quite a few since it’s about an hour from us. We had the pleasure of meeting the husband-and-wife owners, and they were incredibly sweet and welcoming. It feels good to support a local bakery that not only serves amazing goodies but is run by such kind people. We’ll definitely be back!
Delicious Filipino baked goods and sweet treats. My go-to is their beef empanada, and as a sweet treat, their halo halo! It’s hard to find delicious halo-halo outside of the Philippines that compares, but this is it. It’s a pick-up kinda spot. Owner and staff are friendly, and Mike has a great sense of humor. Pleasure passing by every time.
I was craving pandesal and decided to check out this new Filipino bakery shop. Me and my boyfriend both agreed that it tasted very authentic! We got the Spanish pandesal, ube cheesecake, and plain emsaymada. When we got home and warmed up our goodies everything tasted so delicious!
