Crema's Take

Urth Caffe's South Bay location is a beautiful, high-ceilinged spot with locally roasted beans and a reliably welcoming atmosphere that keeps regulars coming back across multiple locations. The food and drinks consistently impress, though service can be inconsistent depending on when you visit. It's an ideal spot for lingering with friends or settling in for a few hours, though fair warning that valet parking runs $5.

It’s a place I visit frequently in different locations, and I’ve consistently had good experiences. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, perfect for meeting up with friends or just relaxing for a while. The coffee is always fresh, and the pastries are really good. It can get a bit busy at times, but overall it’s a great spot to spend some time. I’ll definitely keep coming back.

Have never been to this Urth Cafe. I chose to come to this one for valentines day because of the reviews... the food and drinks were amazing, but the cashier was horrible. Her name is KAREN H. When asked to let the people in the back know about my husband's allergy, she slapped an allergy warning on the counter top as if we had not already seen this warning on the menu that we were already looking at. I just wanted to make it clear, to have the baristas RINSE OFF before cross contaminating....a very simple thing to do, which is for her to just let them know.... in which they're supposed to be rinsing the frother before each customer anyways for machine maintenance. She could have given great customer service by simply saying..."ok of course no worries let me double check," or "for sure ill let them know," instead she chose to roll her eyes or make a frown as if the little behaviors she was doing wasn't noticeable. To the supervisor/ manager, please consider putting this worker in the back...she has no social or customer service skills, and will definitely hurt your company. Again, food is great and amazing, this worker is NOT IT.

First time coming to Urth Caffe and my experience was extremely excellent 👌 customer service was extremely helpful and friendly and the servers as well. The place is beautiful, I love the high ceilings and the rustic bricks. Out food was delicious 😋 got to try the banana nut oatmeal and the white corn pancakes. Fir drinks I enjoyed the Italian Cappuccino, I highly recommend 👌 almost forgot we also got the pumpkin cheesecake 😋 if you are a pumpkin, cheesecake lover you need to definitely try it.

Unfortunately, this was one of the worst experiences I’ve had at Urth Caffe. We visited the South Bay location for brunch, expecting a nice café experience. They roast their own coffee beans, and the pastries looked great. However, the service was extremely poor. Customers are required to use valet parking, even though there are plenty of spaces nearby. Inside, you have to order at the counter even for dine-in, which makes the process confusing. After ordering, we waited over 45 minutes for our food, while others who arrived later were served first. There were no servers checking tables, and no updates or apologies. I had to ask a staff member, and was told “the eggs aren’t ready yet.” When the food finally arrived, it was already cold and stale, clearly sitting out for a long time. No apology or explanation was given. For a place with this reputation and price point, the service quality at this location was unacceptable. I hope management seriously reviews their workflow and staff training — this experience was far below what customers expect from Urth Caffe.

FYI - valet is $5! I wasn’t familiar with the area so I decided to pay the 5 bucks for peace of mind and convenience. Not a big deal but just caught off guard for having to pay for a cafe type parking lot. Anyway, big place, large indoor and outdoor seating. More geared towards smaller group size. I thought coffee menu was okay. Tons of sweets to choose from. But it felt a little too factory for me and not homemade-vibes. I appreciate the wide variety of pastry and cake selection but sometimes less is more. I got the pumpkin cheesecake and I thought it was okay. Not over the top good but not bad either. My coffee drink was the same. Overall I thought for place was average good.
