Crema's Take
“This beloved Durham spot excels at building community over custom breakfast sandwiches and inventive donut flavors, with a particularly generous perk of free donuts with afternoon latte purchases. The spacious, shaded seating area and friendly staff create an inviting refuge for both serious work sessions and casual hangouts, though the noise level and seasonal seating constraints can be a trade-off during busy hours. Their homemade touches—from fresh jam to quality coffee—justify the loyalty, even if opinions on the overall execution are decidedly split.”

Great service. Nice place to sit and do work or hang out. Fun donut flavors. Soups were tasty. Pictured is white chicken chili soup. Donuts(free with latte purchase after 3pm) pictured are raspberry cheesecake and Lady Grey. Lots of coffee/latte options. Small parking lot off to side of the building. Interior clean.
honestly this has to be one of the most overhyped places in Durham, especially the 9th street area. incredibly mid, tepid, unseasoned breakfast foods served at a premium considering this is NC. breakfast for 2 was ~$50 (sandwich and drinks for both). sure it tastes ok, but cmon now these margins are crazy. on the weekends the Durham hipsters, students, and families will line up out the door for the smallest breakfast sandwiches. maybe they want to LARP as New Yorkers?? restaurant layout is not optimized for max service either. entire areas of the place empty - not conducive for pick up waiting nor order waiting.
Did a "build your own breakfast sandwich" with a biscuit, overeasy egg, homemade jam, tomato, avocado, white cheddar, with a side of chicken sausage I put on the sandwhich. Oh my gosh I think it was the best breakfast sandwhich I've ever had. The sausage juicy and tasty, biscuit was perfectly fluffy and buttery, and the homemade jam was to die for. And their produce was fresh and flavorful in mid January. Very nice staff. My coffee orders are always annoying cuz Im a decaf/oatmilk girl who doesn't like things very sweet. I ordered their rosemary mocha and no pronlem with all my modifications and it was a great drink. The gal who took my order was very nice. Interior seating kind loud(cuz its clearly popular) but theres a really lovely outdoor sitting area you can take your food to, across the street from a firestation and school. Its such a pleasant atmosphere. Next time Im in Durham, definitely coming back here.
I really like the food. The staff were friendly and drinks were amazing. Wish there was more inside seating during the winter as it gets pretty busy and there’s not too many places to sit. Also wish they had a bigger menu as I loved the food and I would love to have more options.
I enjoyed my pumpkin latte and donut. My friend also enjoyed her coffee. There is a nice sitting area that is shaded and has plenty of sitting. The inside is spacious, but it’s pretty noisy. The staff were very friendly. I love that the owners pay their workers a livable wage.
