babas on cannon

Crema's Take
“Babas on Cannon is a tiny, vibrant neighborhood cafe that punches well above its weight with thoughtfully made coffee drinks like their standout iced vanilla matcha and creative honey whipped espresso, paired with genuinely fresh breakfast fare including jammy eggs and inventive potato tacos. The lively, hip atmosphere draws a steady crowd to its limited but coveted seating—both the intimate indoor nook and charming outdoor area—making it the kind of place where you'll want to linger with a friend or settle in with your laptop. It's the real deal: unpretentious, ingredient-focused, and loved by locals who keep coming back for the combination of excellent coffee, quality food, and genuine neighborhood warmth.”

I went to Babas on Cannon for breakfast with my boyfriend. We ordered a matcha, honey whipped espresso, and two potato tacos. All of that was a little over $20 after tax which I feel like is on the cheaper side when it comes to cafes, especially in Charleston. There was a line outside the door the entire time we were there and the food/drinks were really good. The seating was very limited, they have two table top areas with chairs and then two stand up tables. They do have some tables outside.
Delicious iced vanilla matcha! Lively, hip atmosphere, though it is very small inside with only a handful of close-together seats. I do wish I came hungry, the food looked very good.
Babas is beyond a doubt the most authentic neighborhood cafe in Charleston. From their jammy eggs to their toasts, salads, and sandwiches...everything we've tried has been incredibly fresh with an emphasis on quality ingredients. It's a great place to stop in for a coffee and a snack or even a cocktail in the evening.
I love the vibes and their iced matcha latte. Their outdoor seating was perfect. But one thing that I have noticed. Cashiers like to click on 20% tips for you when they turn pos for you to sign. If you don’t pay attention, your total will add 20% tips automatically. Just feel like it should be customer’s decision to make especially this is not full services as dine in restaurant.
Great atmosphere and super friendly staff. Limited seating inside and outside but it seems like a hot spot! Their sandwiches and salads looked amazing as I saw them going out but I thoroughly enjoyed my cortado with their house made syrup. The vibe is lively and it seemed like a good place for a date, to study or grab something to go. I look forward to coming back to try their food!
