Crema's Take

Apothica Cafe in Pawtucket draws a devoted crowd with its ambitious specialty drinks and expansive breakfast menu, though the experience can feel hit-or-miss depending on who's behind the bar—when the baristas connect with you, the lattes shine and the energy is genuinely warm and welcoming. The cafe's thoughtful touches like ample seating, off-street parking, and plant-based options make it a solid neighborhood gathering spot, even if some of the more experimental offerings like the lavender coffee occasionally miss the mark.

While the space looks welcoming, my experience felt more like entering a private coffee club with selective service more than a relaxed neighborhood café. Two breakfast sandwiches and two drinks came to about $50 (plus a $5 pre-tip). I’m fine paying premium prices when the quality and service justify it, but that wasn’t the case here. The plant-filled, art-forward atmosphere is beautiful, but while we sat waiting, multiple walk-in and takeout orders moved through while ours seemed overlooked. After about 30 minutes, I asked for an update and was asked what our drinks were again, suggesting the order had never actually been entered. Mistakes happen, but the issue was the response. Instead of an apology or accountability, the manager focused on their vegan process taking longer/costing more, rather than addressing the oversight. A simple acknowledgment would have gone a long way. Disappointed at the lack of hospitality, I ask for a refund which came with a side of free attitude. Then I walked out hungry and thirsty, eyes whispering goodbye to my other $5 in the tip cup, never to return. I appreciate the concept, but good customer service is paramount, especially when mistakes happen. Until that response improves, it’s hard to justify a $15 1/4 of an Eggo vegan sandwich.

My partner and I were disappointed with our drinks and food. His lavender coffee tasted like perfume, and we are big fans of lavender drinks so it’s hard to disappoint us. To top it off, our $11 wrap (pictured above) was offensively small and practically inedible. What we received was over priced and not even as good as cafeteria food. To top it off, the atmosphere was a bit cold and unfriendly. Would not recommend unless things improve.

The barista was amazing! I don't know his name but the way he treated me and my best friend was amazing. He was funny and he made our lattes soooo good. He even treated my little nephew great. We ordered an iced pumpkin spice latte and an iced Nutella latte with a chocolate chip pumpkin muffin and they were extremely delicious. Definitely recommend!

This is a super cute breakfast spot in Cumberland. They have a wide variety of teas, lattes and breakfast options, and a lot of seating. There is off street parking available. Great for plant based and non plant based people alike. We had the bean Crunchwrap and a custom breakfast sando!

A great stop for coffee and food. Visited 07/09/25 for a coffee and breakfast and was not disappointed. Apothica Cafe has one of the largest selections of coffee choices I've seen from a full vegan cafe. Went for the breakfast burrito which had a brilliant mix of flavours and textures and I would highly recommend. Maple latte and banana protein shake were both great drinks and again would be recommended. We went for the bar seating with a larger lounge area also avaible. These is a great atmosphere with friendly staff. 💯 worth a visit.
