Edo Cafe
608 S Exeter St, Baltimore, MD
Crema's Take
“This Baltimore café has earned a devoted following for its showstopping basque cheesecakes that draw people from hours away, each slice impossibly rich and beautifully executed in flavors like golden lava and biscoff. Beyond the pastry case, they craft thoughtful specialty drinks featuring matcha and Earl Grey alongside their traditional offerings, creating a destination that balances Instagram-worthy indulgence with genuinely skilled beverage work. It's the kind of place where a quick grab becomes a memorable experience, whether you're stopping by the JHU area or making the pilgrimage specifically for their signature creations.”

Tasty cheesecakes!
I tried the Biscoff cheesecake for the first time! It was delicious and reasonably portioned. The flavor of the cheesecake was bold enough without the Biscoff topping. The Biscoff was a nice touch considering it has a very light flavor.
I saw this place on TikTok and drove an hour away just to get their cheesecakes and wow, it was so worth it! I got the golden lava basque cheesecake and wanted to get the smaller classic cheesecake too. It ended up being sold out so they gave us an Earl Grey but I asked if we could switch it to chocolate. They ended up just giving us the chocolate for free which was so generous! I do wish the cakes were a bit bigger but other than that, the cakes were so good that I’m counting down the days til I can make another trip back to get more!
I stopped by to pick up the basque lava cheesecake slice. The size looked a bit small, as it is 1/4 of a 6 inch cheesecake, but the cake itself is so rich that it was a good portion. The texture is so smooth and it's not too sweet. The flavor beats Cheesecake Factory's! It was a little tricky to find this place. It's right by the Little Italy neighborhood. Don't be fooled if you end up in a fairly deserted parking lot by the empty Stratford University building. If you look up this cafe on Google maps, it might not mention "La Chow," which is a shared establishment with Edo Cafe. The cafe is located inside La Chow. I didn't go inside for my order, but the person who brought it out to me was very nice, and I love that they put the slice in an insulated bag. It wasn't melted by the time I received it.
Good small japanese cheesecake I ordered online for pick up near jhu east gate. I got cheese, taro, earl gray, and matcha. I think taro was the best. Matcha was good as well. Earl gray was a bit strong for me. It was good. I would like to try bento boxes next time. Highly recommend!
