Crema's Take

Variety Coffee Roasters is a Park Slope institution where the baristas actually remember your order and nail their extractions every time, creating a rare New York café experience built on genuine familiarity rather than just good vibes. The sprawling space—with front counter seating, a generous back room, and outdoor tables—feels less like a laptop-friendly chain and more like a neighborhood living room, especially when you're biting into their exceptional raspberry croissant. It's the kind of place where a tall guy in a hat thanks you for tipping, which somehow feels revolutionary in Brooklyn.

They know my coffee order, they extract really well, the raspberry croissant is amazing, and the tall guy in the hat says thank you when people tip, which hardly anyone in NY seems to. Always worth a little longer walk since it’s the best place in the area.

Lately, the lids have had small defects—thin pieces almost like hairs or bits breaking off. I often notice them a few blocks away at work. That said, the coffee and baristas are awesome.

My favorite spot to grab a coffee in park slope, I’ve been coming here for years and no other cafe in the area can compare. They have a lot of seating both in the front and the back room, perfect for getting some work done. The music is always bumping which may be a good or bad thing if you’re trying to find a quiet place. Definitely stop by, they always have some delicious seasonal options.

I am just in Park Slope for the weekend and was struggling to pick a coffee spot. I chose this one on a whim and am so glad I did! Friendly staff, plenty of seating (indoor, outdoor, and a whole lower level I didn’t see till I was leaving!) as well as a little spot on the wall where you could grab a section of the New York Times to browse. Great vibes and coffee all around.

Just stepped in when we passed it bc the coffee smelled very good. The coffee place was trendy and lovely. There was a big room at the back of the shop. it has lots of seats for the customers to bring laptops here to work or meet up with friends. It was much bigger than it looks from the outside The maple latte was great!
