“Variety Coffee Roasters has the kind of consistency that keeps regulars coming back for years—the baristas nail their extractions, remember your order, and actually seem to care about the experience in a way that's refreshing for New York. The sprawling space with multiple seating areas (front, back room, outdoor) makes it equally good for a quick solo coffee or lingering with friends over one of their excellent pastries. Just be aware that quality control on lids has been spotty lately, though the coffee itself is worth overlooking that minor frustration.”
What to expect
Espresso-focused, with a pour-over program. A slow-sit, laptop-friendly, outdoor seating spot, good for meetings. Pastries on the menu.

They know my coffee order, they extract really well, the raspberry croissant is amazing, and the tall guy in the hat says thank you when people tip, which hardly anyone in NY seems to. Always worth a little longer walk since it’s the best place in the area.
Lately, the lids have had small defects—thin pieces almost like hairs or bits breaking off. I often notice them a few blocks away at work. That said, the coffee and baristas are awesome.
