Commons Café

1 Logan Square, Philadelphia, PA

★★★★★3.1(13 Google reviews)

Crema's Take

Tucked inside the Logan Hotel's lobby, Commons Café opens early and keeps things refreshingly straightforward with a solid cold brew program and well-executed pastries like pain au chocolat—perfect for hotel guests or early risers looking for a no-fuss grab-and-go moment. The large seating area makes it a legitimate spot to linger with your laptop, though pricing runs on the hotel premium side, so expect to pay a bit more than you would elsewhere in the city. It's honest, dependable coffee that doesn't pretend to be anything more than what it is: a convenient neighborhood café that happens to operate in one of Philly's most recognizable buildings.

You have to enter the Logan hotel to access The Commons. House coffee and plain croissant for $11. Large sitting area. How early it's open is its best feature. Decent across the board.

Great place for a grab and go. I tried the black and tan iced coffee and enjoyed it. The pain au chocolat was good as well. Took some pics for folks to refer to.

While staying at the Logan I thought I would grab a quick matcha latte and a yogurt one morning. The matcha, yogurt, and a banana ended up costing me $24! On top of that, the matcha latte was just a cup of warm milk with some matcha powder on the top. The yogurt wasn't even yogurt. It was a panna cotta that tasted so sweet it could have been used to ice a cake. Even if you are in a rush I would advise you to go somewhere else for your breakfast.

This is primarily an order or grab and go in the lobby of the Logan Hilton. They have a refrigerator for bottled beverages. They have a very small menu with a few breakfast items. They have a pastry shelf you can order from. Basically you can get coffee, tea, lattes, and all the different ways you can have espresso. Nothing spectacular about the coffee, except it comes in two sizes 16 and 20 oz. Nearby is the hotel fireplace with chairs and a sofa so you can unwind and enjoy your cup. Cafe opens early in the morning before the Urban Farmer opens for the day.

Not something I’d seek out if I weren’t staying at this hotel. Got a simple cold brew with oat milk. Tried to use my personal cup and they simply measured and did everything with a disposable cup and then threw it away anyway. Just don’t accept personal cups at that point…
