Crema's Take

Cotton Bug Bakery is a family-friendly neighborhood spot in North Augusta where the real stars are indulgent treats like their celebrated cheesecake and chocolate-covered pecan turtles rather than coffee itself. While their traditional coffee drinks serve as reliable companions, locals rave most about the bakery case filled with cake balls, buckeyes, and creative mini cakes that make it perfect for a quick sweet grab or special order. Fair warning: their quality can be inconsistent, so asking staff for their current standout items might help you hit on a winner.

What to expect

Cake balls were as delicious as Boll Weevils cakes but in bite size! They were huge! The price was good considering they were home made and not frozen like Starbucks. Bought a variety for a party and everyone loved them!

Red velvet cake has gone downhill for years now. The staff does not mix the cake well and only the middle is red. The rest of the chocolate cake isn’t good either. It tastes dry and has a rough texture. It’s a shame because they use to have the best red velvet in town.

Disappointing on so many levels! I have purchase Red Velvet cakes from this bakery many of times before. Excellent cakes, however the cake that I was sold most recently was far below the standards of this bakery. My cake of choice was Red Velvet. That is not what I received. It…
