Oh my! Of all the special places in traverse city, this one may be the special-ist. It’s like a best kept secret but here’s to letting that out! Amazing baked treats and a wide variety of fresh, delicious concoctions in packages and in the case, including hot chocolate, teas and coffees served in store. My favorite place at the moment.

The absolute best! Last year I found an assortment of tiramisu from around town for my husband's birthday in order to find his favorite. Great Lakes Chocolates was by far the winner for him! So this year I made a request to order a whole tiramisu for his birthday, but had somehow missed that they only make these regularly on Christmas. However, the staff that I spoke with was so accommodating, helpful, and kind and were willing to make one for him anyways! The tiramisu cake was beautiful and so so delicious! Thank you so much for being such a bright space in Traverse City!

Absolutely the best chocolate and truffles you will ever have! Every single dessert is basically perfection. The entremes are the best things on this planet! I spread the word to everyone. Their prices are some of the best around and their coffee is fabulous!

I popped in today to grab some treats as Christmas presents. As soon as I saw the display case I knew I was in trouble. Everything was so well crafted. I was able to pick out what truffles I wanted and gift boxes. The employee that helped me was kind, patient and gave great recommendations. So happy I stopped in today!

One of their standout offerings is their signature dessert, Life by Chocolate (one of my dad’s favorites). The owners, Shana and Dave, are also incredibly friendly and passionate about what they do. It's clear that they take great care in every step of the process, from sourcing the beans to crafting the final product. In addition to their many chocolate offerings, they also has a variety of coffee and tea drinks, covered cherries and almonds, and daily selection of cookies, scones, and pastries. All in all, Great Lakes chocolate is a must-visit destination for anyone in the Traverse City area looking to treat themselves to some truly special desserts.
