Hey… I don’t usually do this… but you need to get over here. The food is authentic, and really good food. We had a combo of buffet / hotpot / Grill for 25.99 each. You need to visit the sauce bar, and surprise your friend by cooking the octopus… it has the same taste and texture as chicken. Napkins are in a drawer under the front of the table… have fun and make memories!

Let me first address the reviews complaining about portion size and quality. Comments like, “I’d think you’d get more.” Or “It was so gross, I wasted more food than I ate.” Lastly, “the food on the buffet looked like last nights left overs or pan scrapings.” First of all, it’s a buffet, hot pot and Korean bbq. They have a menu, and you can order off the menu. But, the reviews referenced the buffet, soup and hot pot. It’s all you can eat, so if you didn’t get enough, that’s on you! And if you’re wasting food, then why do you keep going back and filling your plate. You saw the buffet and if it looked terrible as you have said, why did you sit down and eat and allegedly get sick or food poisoning. I call BS. Why not include pics of these disgusting claims? Also, claims about you cant read buffet labels. Well, they aren’t written in Chinese. The labels are computer printed. If you aren’t sure what you’re reading, why not ask? On with my review. We were really grateful that a Hot Pot and Korean BBQ opened in GJ. We live over an hour away and when we come to GJ, we go to Taste of Chang’An. If you’re unfamiliar with Hot Pot or Korean BBQ, both meals are prepare yourself. Meaning you cook your food at your table. You grab your choices from the buffet and return to your table and combine your sauces, flavors and seasonings from the condiments bar. They have vegetarian, lamb, beef, pork, chicken, seafood. They include on the buffet rotating items like Sesame, Orange and Sweet and Sour Chicken. Slow cooked braised beef. Pepper Corn green beans, noodles, egg rolls, crab Rangoon and much more. Korean BBQ and Hot Pot are a festive type preparations, that are intended for people to gather, cook and converse. A family style way of everyone bringing things to the table and cooking and trying all the variations Taste of Chang’An has to offer. It’s a step out of your norms and to get a little adventurous with your food. If that isn’t your “cup of tea,” then order off the menu, but don’t hammer the restaurant because you had to cook your food. You’re missing the point. Should’ve done your homework before going there. Taste of Chang’An is doing a really good job, friendly, attentive and more exciting way to enjoy a meal. If you’re unsure of what to do, how to set things up; they’d be happy to show you. Ask for the owner, Chang, he is always there and very friendly.

What a fabulous experience tonight at Taste of Chang'An. My husband and I got hot pot and were lucky enough to sample some things from the buffet hot bar also. Everything was fresh and delicious. The hot pot broths were especially noteworthy for their variety and incredible flavors (the tomato rocks). The short ribs are excellent. Everyone we spoke to was so friendly and accommodating. If we lived in town we would be here all the time!

As someone from China, I found this restaurant incredibly authentic and delicious! After a full day of hiking in Colorado National Monument, we were absolutely starving, and this place hit the spot. The ingredients were fresh, the flavors were spot on, and everything was very satisfying. For just $24.99, you get an all-you-can-eat experience that includes both hotpot and BBQ. You can choose whatever ingredients you like, in any amount, and cook them right at your own table. The variety and freedom made the meal really enjoyable. The staff were super friendly and welcoming. They kept checking in to see if we wanted more BBQ, and they brought everything out quickly with a smile. Highly recommend for anyone looking for authentic Chinese flavors and a fun dining experience!
