Crema's Take

Tucked along the Hawaii Belt Road in Kona, Kaya's Kawanui is a charming neighborhood spot where exceptional espresso drinks (locals rave about their lattes) meet an impressive selection of thoughtfully made pastries and light bites, with a genuine emphasis on gluten-free and vegan options that actually taste great. The friendly, laid-back vibe—complete with both indoor and outdoor seating and convenient parking—makes it feel like a genuine community gathering place where you'll find both regulars and visitors lingering over quality coffee and good conversation.

Do you enjoy healthy gluten free and/or vegan pastries and more? YOU HAVE TO GO HERE! Super cute coffee shop with in/out door seating. Friendly vibe and cool people (both the workers and the customers). Excellent place to chill at or stop by on your way to adventure. If you're not a tourist, make it a part of your morning routine. I've tried many of their dishes from sweet to savory and I've loved them all!

Tucked along the Hawaii Belt Road, this charming coffee shop is a must-visit for breakfast. With convenient parking available right next to the shop, it’s easy to stop by. They offer a great selection of vegetarian and vegan options, including a standout Kaya bean burger that’s absolutely delicious. The avocado toast is fresh and flavorful, while the lavender cardamom mocha is a unique and delightful treat. The service is fast and friendly, and best of all, the prices are very reasonable. It’s a great spot for a satisfying meal without breaking the bank.

Kaya’s was a near daily stop during our time on the Kona side - as a gluten/dairy free human, it is such a treat to walk in and see a bake case full of treats that are both delicious AND safe to eat. The ginger molasses cookie is hands down a favorite - a perfectly chewy middle with a crinkly edge - the PB&J granola bar is a close second. If you’re lucky you’ll also have some excellent gecko watching in the front garden

This is hands down one of the best lattes I’ve ever had. The quality of the espresso and milk are incredible. I ordered whole cows milk and my husband ordered the macadamia milk latte. Both very good. Don’t miss out on all their gluten free pastries and GF quiches. First day we tried the broccoli and feta quiche & mushroom bell pepper. Both gluten free but couldn’t tell. We came back the next day to order another latte and tried the GF blueberry scone. Again, couldn’t tell the difference of gluten free or regular. They also have a little water statin to pour your own cup. I wish they had a coffee shop like this in San Diego. Highly recommend this place.
