I am a member at the Hunger Mountain Co-Op. I have been a member for 8 years. Hunger Mountain has a large selection of local and organic goods. They also have great discounts for disabled folks on a budget, and they have an excellent return policy. Here's the issue: they are performative when it comes to progressive politics according to their own narratives, and because they have a union that allows them "freedom of expression" it often blurs the line between the needs of the business, the customer, and how customers are treated. The Co Op also has very little competition and they know it. I get the sense that some customers are more equal than others. Some customers, like myself are often rudely talked to, and without any caution, gratitude or appreciation for my business. Other's are treated the opposite way. I am not entitled to many things, I worked grueling retail and customer service jobs for years. I am compassionate to their needs whilst my needs are often ignored and invalidated. Their behavior is chronic, and my reasonable feed back is always ignored by the management. I have decided take the hint and find other places to shop. It is a shame. I might revisit the Co Op in the future, but only if I feel I have to.

Not what it use to be. The prepared food isnt good, the vegan options are poor, the veggies often have bugs. Just an expensive place to shop with limited selection and not enough room to move around. Bathrooms aren't as clean as they use to be either.

Stellar Co-op in Montpelier. Reliably quality offerings. Good local produce and bulk section. Sad they closed the deli down for fresh sammiches, but they still sling some pre made ones by the hot bar. Dine in seating area on the Winooski river as well.

Every thing fresh and delicious. Lots of local options! Great people, fair pricing, clean, caring. Order ahead and pick up. Update Oct. 2023: I come here every week. I 💜 💜 💜 the hot and salad bars, pre-made sandwiches, healthy food throughout, including chocolate 🙂. Great salmon, chicken and salads. Beautiful produce, mostly local, spices, tea and self serve kombucha! Update Dec, 2023: If you're looking for health related supplements or some Beets and Sweets, you'll find them here. And BONTE'S BAKERY IS BACK delivering the absolute most delicious gluten free bread! There's a bulk foods area where you can purchase only what you need. Organic options abound!

This place is right behind my Granddaughters home. She shops there all the time. Great place for really healthy locally grown foods. I love going there for a snack and sitting on the porch. I bought my GD a life time membership there hoping she will stay in Montpelier so I have a vacation spot.
