Sip N' Play
471 5th Ave, Brooklyn, NY
Crema's Take
“Sip N' Play is a wonderfully welcoming Brooklyn spot where the coffee and specialty drinks (their taro bubble tea is a standout) pair perfectly with board games, Magic tournaments, and quality time—whether you're a competitive player meeting your gaming crew or a family looking for an afternoon of connection. The Italian paninis are solid fuel for long play sessions, and at just $10-12 per person for three hours, it's an affordable escape that somehow feels both cozy and vibrant, with staff who genuinely make everyone feel at home.”

You can't go wrong with the Italian panini and the taro bubble tea ;) Other things I have to say: * Great place to play Magic! I've met so many new people and discovered new MtG communities here. Lot of regulars. Diverse crowd. * There's a relatively active Discord server to learn about events, talk to the owner, trade cards, etc. * The owner and staff are awesome and also total nerds 😄 * Food is bomb!! one of the few LGSes in the 5 boroughs that serves food. Essential for surviving and thriving during draft and pre-release nights 😁 You can order from your table with a QR code. There's also free plastic cups/ water dispenser. I can't say I have many suggestions. I guess I wish they had decaf coffee LOL.
My family and I had the best time hanging out, eating to tasty options, and playing a game together. It is a comfortable place the staff was warm and friendly. It is great place to get our kids off screens and to engage as a family. I have also come to hang for a bit in the early afternoon alone. It is quiet and the coffee is good!
Great store with very competitive pricing, the friendliest staff, a clean, well maintained play area, and a decent selection of games. I play Modern here every Thursday and this store is by far my favorite place to play Magic: The Gathering. The tourney organizer, Jonathon Li is friendly, helpful, considerate, and really cares about the people playing Magic here. He will wait to start if someone is running late, will work with the players to figure out proper judge calls, and even lend you cards or a whole deck. The store itself is very well lit, maintained, and most importantly clean. We all know board and card game enthusiasts can be on the smelly/ less hygienic side, but this store is thankfully better maintained. The bathroom is spacious and cleaned regularly with some cool artwork. The staff is friendly and helpful. They've always been nice to customers from what I see, and will regularly bring your order to your table if you're busy playing a game. All in all I couldn't recommend a better place to play board games or Magic: The Gathering.
Just amazinggg!! Had the best time yesterday!! They had my favorite board games and so much more. I love the sandwiches and bubble teas, My friends and I had a blast highly recommend checking it out with your friend and family fun night out!
This is the best spot to come to with friends! Especially if you’re bored or can’t figure out what to do. It’s $10-$12 dollars a person for 3 hours to play board games! It is so fun, sometimes we pay for another 3 hours. The food is pretty good, but a little pricey. That’s okay though because they even allow you to bring outside food and drinks. I come here a lot and must say, I’ve never had a problem and always have so much fun! Only thing I would say is some of the games have missing instructions or missing pieces which is unfortunate. Still super fun though!
