Square One Breakfast & Bakery
4790 S Hagadorn Rd, East Lansing, MI
Crema's Take
“Square One is a beloved East Lansing breakfast spot where the real magic happens in the espresso bar, especially when you order Tate's legendary coconut oat milk lattes that keep regulars coming back for more. The kitchen turns out genuinely impressive breakfast fare—think perfectly executed Irish omelets and French toast that justifies the morning crowds—paired with a stellar, genuinely friendly staff that makes you feel welcome whether you're grabbing a quick coffee or settling in for a full meal. It's the kind of place that captures that sweet spot between casual neighborhood joint and destination breakfast destination, with reasonable prices and an energetic college-town vibe that's exactly what you'd want from a morning gathering spot.”

The food is always great but what always has me coming back is the latte that a server named Tate makes. That girl makes a MEANNN latte, I ask for a coconut latte with oat milk every single time I go and I am never disappointed. It’s perfect in every way every time!!!
Decent greasy spoons type breakfast place. Overall, great experience but while there server did not refill coffee but when I asked for a to go cup, was granted the request. Popular place in AM so may have to wait depending on the day.
I eat here often and always enjoy it. Great omelets (the Irish one is awesome), tasty pancakes. Really good French Toast. The service is stellar. Very friendly staff. And reasonable prices. What more could you want?
Overall, expect college student level service (ie, not great), college level noise and decent food. For how packed this place was, I was expecting amazing food. I think they do so well due to the proximity to MSU but I definitely think there are way better places in town if you have a car or arent desperate. Food - ordered bacon breakfast sandwich, it was decently good. Menu is meat centric. Not much for vegetarians. Atmosphere - so noisy, they could probably make this better with some noise dampening panels and it wouldn't cost that much.
Food was Average, the server was decent. Cute joint. Coffee was super basic. They had limited servers so it took a long time for serving.
