Crema's Take

This beloved neighborhood bakery is a nostalgic destination for traditional Italian pastries, particularly their celebrated rainbow cookies with perfectly balanced almond layers, jam, and chocolate—though consistency can vary across their wider selection. Beyond the sweets, they're known for seasonal specialties like their generously-sized honey ball boxes and classic cream pies that keep families coming back, though parking is tight in their modest side lot. It's the kind of old-school operation where you'll find genuine craftsmanship alongside occasional misses, making each visit a bit of a pleasant gamble for lovers of traditional Italian-American baked goods.

Lyndhurst Pastry Shop’s Italian cookies are fantastic. The rainbow cookies were the highlight—soft almond layers with just the right amount of jam and a thin chocolate coating. I also tried three rugelach flavors—cinnamon, chocolate, and raspberry—and all were equally delicious. The dough was buttery and flaky, and everything tasted fresh and homemade. Definitely worth trying.

I was so pissed due to the fact that some things are a hit and some are a miss. We ordered $30 of mix pastries the problem was that we ordered 4 tarts which were good. The little custard cups got me so mad because I asked if they were from today and the girl said yes. They were not stale but plan hard. Unfortunately I spit mine out and threw away the rest. The cheese Danish was the same way so we threw that out. What really got me mad was the stale napoleon, which are usually good. The issue i have is nothing in any bakery is cheap so there should be no room for mistakes. When you pay over $2.50 to $3.50 a small pastry that is bite sized, it get frustrating that it is wasted money. I agree that it was 1hr before closing but they should not sell crap like that. I hope they do better. Unfortunately I hate to post but can you imagine you and your daughter craving these pastries and spend $30 bucks for 10 bite sized pastries and a stale napoleon with a stale cheese Danish, apple pocket, custard cup. I wish and hope they do better.

They have honey balls for holidays. Huge box for $20. Typical old school bakery. Parking to the side but pretty small lot. Maybe four to five spots.

Good old style bakery with a lot of options of cakes, cookies, pastries and cream pies and ice cream. Also well decorated, neat and clean with few parking also! But but but….the quality of the food materials they use is not upto the mark!

Lyndhurst Pastry Shop/Chocolate Chip Cookie: Financially, this was an excellent deal. However, when I saw the swirls on top of the cookie, I had a feeling this wasn’t going to be a hit. It wasn’t chewy nor gooey and too crunchy throughout. I can tell this bakery has other appetizing desserts, but this is not one of them.
