Crema's Take

Southwark is a beautifully executed neighborhood gem where attentive service and a warm bar atmosphere make every visit feel like a celebration, whether you're marking a milestone or just finally making good on years of intention. The kitchen takes real care with both traditional and creative specialty drinks alongside an impressive menu of carefully sourced ingredients—think chicken liver mousse and house-made ravioli—making it the kind of place where lingering over coffee and pastries feels like the whole point.

What an incredible dining experience! Service: we were a little late to our reservation but we had no issues getting seated and served right away. Everybody was kind, helpful, and informative. Our server answered all of our questions and was happy to help us make food and drink choices. Food: amuse bouche - delicious rutabega, apple, and tarragon soup. It was perfect and really elevated the experience for us. Such a nice gesture from the kitchen Tuna crudo - perfectly fresh fish, tangy and crispy, and herby accompaniments. Well thought out Goat cheese gnudi - soft and pillowy texture, melts in your mouth, great contrast with the crispy pancetta Papardelle with smoked pheasant - perfect pasta texture, smokiness really comes through in a pleasant way Caramelized onion ravioli - the onions were great, came off a little bit more sweet than I would've liked, but otherwise well balanced with the marrow crema sauce Citrus olive oil cake - so well done. The zinginess of the citrus fruits, the variety of preserved vs fresh fruits, and the lovely whipped labneh texture and crispy meringues all worked together in a perfect way. Will dream of more cake Atmosphere: quiet where you can enjoy your conversation, but has fun backround music so it's not stuffy or high strung. Staff are busy but it never feels rushed or stressful. Pricing: reasonably priced for the high end experience and dishes. They're not trying to be anything that they're not which I really appreciate. The food comes first, and pricing suits the high quality of food without being pretentious

My partner and I have been meaning to visit Southwark for years. Doing so for my fortieth birthday made it totally worth the wait. The entire experience was exceptional! The ambiance at the bar, the bartenders, the other clientele (also celebrating a couple of birthdays in the mix), the cocktails, food—seriously all of it made for a perfect evening out. Thanks to Randall, Perry, and James for their warmth and excellent service. We look forward to visiting again soon. Cheers!

For starter we had Chicken Liver Mousse and Mushroom Polenta Fries and for the main course Green Meadow Farm Pork and Caramelized Onion Ravioli. For dessert we shared Ginger Mascarpone Mousse. All dishes were delicious. Highly recommend this place.

So torn about our visit. The food is exceptional but the portion sizes are quite small for a restaurant not serving it as part of a multi-course tasting menu. The service experience was surprisingly poor and not even remotely to the standard of how the restaurant presents itself. Largely sub-Applebees service at a Michelin-rated kind of establishment. If you're gonna spend $175 on a meal for two, you want a bit more. Overall, Southwark under delivers against what it could and should be able to achieve.

My friend and I had a lovely dinner at Southwark a couple of weekends ago. Upon walking into the restaurant, we were immediately greeted by the friendly host and bartender. Our server was also incredibly kind and attentive throughout the meal. We shared a warm breads appetizer before moving onto our entrees, which were the roasted lamb shoulder and the duck. We also tried a few different cocktails, which were all pleasing. Desserts were also very good, though the exact names of the dishes escape me. Despite the higher price point, I would say that the excellent service and atmosphere at Southwark make it a perfect spot for an intimate dinner or gathering place for friends.
