Basma Cafe

Crema's Take
“Basma Cafe is a warmly run family spot in Somerville where a father-and-son team cook everything from scratch, earning devoted praise for their meatball shakshuka, smoked salmon omelettes, and generous breakfast sandwiches that punch above their price point. The genuine hospitality—Sammy and his dad greet everyone with real smiles—transforms a casual breakfast visit into an experience that keeps people coming back, making it feel less like a hidden gem and more like a cherished neighborhood secret worth supporting.”

Basma Cafe is one of my favorite places to eat! The food is delicious. I'm particularly fond of the meatball shakshuka, which is phenomenal, as well as the smoked salmon omelette. The father-and-son duo who run the cafe are so friendly and welcoming, and it's always great to see them. The cafe has a very cozy atmosphere. I love coming here!
The owner is so nice and wholesome - staff always greet customers with smile and service! Generosity from the father son duo is contagious. And plus the food is just spectacular. Steaks and eggs are fresh and delicious.
Basma cafe is truly such a special place and the perfect hidden gem. I walked in here one day and met Sammy and his dad who run the place and cook all the dishes. Their food is spectacular and it’s the kind of place where they take the time to welcome you into the community and get to know you. I honestly can’t say enough great things about this place. The food is spectacular. The portions are huge, and I’ve never finished all of the food I’ve gotten, even after coming straight from playing hours of basketball. I genuinely think they have the best breakfast sandwich in Mass, and it’s my favorite breakfast in the city. Please do yourself a favor and stop in here, it will be the best choice you make!
I had one of the most delicious breakfast in the boston area! I had incredible Irish Benedicts! The owners are very warm and nice so nice to see the older dad cooking for us. Support them! Ill be back! Go Sammy!
Incredibly underrated Halal breakfast spot in Teele Square. The portions for breakfast sandwiches are massive compared to the price. My favorite is the frittata sandwich, which is basically a whole omelette inside of a large tortilla, priced at just over $7. Super well-seasoned with that diner-style flavor and caramelized vegetables. I also love getting a "grilled muffin", which is just as delicious as it sounds, for less than $4. Staff is incredibly friendly and while I usually get takeout, the vibes inside the cafe are immaculate. 5/5
