The Black Door Cafe
115 Meeting St #174, Charleston, SC
Crema's Take
“The Black Door Cafe nails the fundamentals with dialed-in espresso pulled on quality equipment (Mazzer and La Marzocco), making it a reliable spot for serious coffee drinkers who appreciate a properly extracted shot. Beyond the coffee, the elegant space works equally well for a solo laptop session, a casual meeting, or lingering over their excellent breakfast pastries and breakfast sandwiches, though service consistency seems to vary depending on who's behind the counter. If you're in Charleston and want good espresso in a stylish setting with solid food, it's worth the visit—just don't expect the latte art to be a priority.”
What to expect

Happy Ash Wednesday. Stopped in for a quick Bacon, Egg and Cheese on a very flavorful brioche bun. sooo delicious. Great music, cool decor and great vibe! Will have to come back for excellent variety of coffee drinks.
The coffee shop is an elegant retreat. Perfect for quick meetings or relaxing breaks, it offers premium beans and impeccable service. Cozy atmosphere with fast Wi-Fi and armchairs that invite you to stay.
Extraction delicious, real nice Mazzer + La Marzocco setup and everything is dialed into spec however latte could have used a heart/design I can make at home in about 2 seconds (and the milk steamed incorrectly). ☕️
I loved the aesthetic and the quality of the food and drinks here. Unfortunately, the service was disappointing. It felt like the baristas weren't properly trained in customer engagement or simply didn't want to be there. This shop has so much potential, but without better…
Excellent coffee, friendly staff, fairly priced. Chiquita went out of her way to welcome and serve us. We are here for several days, and this has been the perfect start to each day. Highly recommend.Foo Foo was also kind and helpful.
Crema Reviews
For a coffee shop in a hotel, this was very good. Usually places in the lobby are an afterthought because they know they have a captive audience and so they don’t have to try. This was NOT the case with The Black Door. Very solid drinks and good food options for a quick bite.…
