Crema's Take
“Tucked along Sunset Boulevard in Silver Lake, Malaya is a minimalist Filipino-inspired coffee shop that's earned serious devotion for its creative specialty drinks—particularly the pandan matcha latte that regulars swear is the best they've had. Beyond the bold, unexpected flavors, it's the kind of place where you actually want to linger: welcoming staff, a relaxed earthy atmosphere, reliable wifi, and dedicated parking make it equally suited for a solo work session or catching up with friends over pastries and ice cream.”

Obsessed with the pandan matcha! Might be the best specialty matcha latte I’ve ever had. Also nice work space with wifi. Parking out front is pretty full but found a spot.
Malaya Coffee & Ice Cream - Silver Lake Tucked along Sunset Biva, Malaya is a minimalist Filipino-inspired gem that blends cozy vibes with bold flavors. I stopped in for a brown sugar latte (hello, condensed milk and cinnamon!) and couldn't resist the ube coconut ice cream affogato pure magic. The ensaymada was buttery, fluffy, and just sweet enough to make me nostalgic for family bakeries. Bonus: it's pet-friendly and laptop-welcoming, so you can sip, snack, and stay awhile. A must-visit for anyone chasing comfort with a twist.
We stopped by Malaya Coffee and Ice Cream to show some support and finally try their Filipino-inspired drinks and pastries plus we were in the area eating sushi. The place has a really chill, welcoming vibe. You can tell it’s made with care and love for the culture. Even though it was busy the service was fast ,we tried one of their specialty coffees (with a twist of ube and pandan , of course) and grabbed some of their freshly baked breads. If you’re into supporting small, community-driven spots that blend tradition with something new, definitely swing by. This place deserves more love.
Knowing Silver Lake, you would appreciate they have their dedicated parking spot, although I had to say most of the time it's fully occupied as they shared it with other establishments. If you skimmed through the menu, you could certainly tell they're bringing Filipino theme into anything they offered. Ensaymada, Ube, Pandan, you named it. The venue was surprisingly cozy. Simple and clean design, smart way in arranging multiple counter seats in different corners, making it accommodative to host quite many people. Nonetheless, coming with big group would still be tricky, unless you wouldn't mind to sit separately. If you're just coming to hang by yourself, I'd say it's wonderful spot to chill and read or even get work done. If you ordered their Ensaymada, they offered multiple flavors, which were basically the toppings. They did re-heat it pre-serving so I bet certainly nice. I didn't get it this time and just went for the drink instead. Seeing most people getting the matcha, I was persuaded to go for the same, but got mine with ube cause I definitely wouldn't wanna miss having ube from a place with Filipino touch. As disclaimer, the ube flavor was basically ube condensed milk, so it might indeed be on sweeter side. Trying my drink, I guessed next time I should go for just the matcha latte to be able to really tasted their matcha. This time the ube flavor kind of overpowered it. Don't get me wrong, it's pretty decent as I did love both condensed milk and ube, just that I wouldn't get to truly taste their matcha on its own (blame this one me LOL). Another one I had on my 'to-try' list would be their Malaya Signature, which sounded like their house version of Spanish Latte to me, with condensed milk, brown sugar, and cinnamon.
This coffee shop Recently opened. The set up and the place is super relaxing and has an earthy vibe ,The workers are very welcoming and very attentive Jaydens energy is amazing makes you feel good to want to come back again . The coffee i got is their signature Malaya the flavor is amazing and not too sweet just perfect and smooth it’s not strong if you like stronger coffees I recommend you add and extra shot . The pastry’s are so moist and delicious a must try. I am a person that knows about coffee and working in the coffee industry and knowing so much about it I can say they took their time to Choose a good coffee and I can see they care about what they are providing to the people. I will really recommend to come and try it if you’re looking for a good coffee. I’m glad I came to try it out and I’m definitely going to be a returning customer.
