Crema's Take

Flaco's is a beloved Latin food spot in Gainesville where warm hospitality and quick service make every visit feel like coming home, though consistency with portion sizes can be hit or miss. The arepas and plantain dishes are the real stars here, arriving hot and boldly flavored, and prices won't break the bank whether you're grabbing a quick bite or settling in for a meal. It's casual and unpretentious—a neighborhood gem that locals keep coming back to despite its modest, no-frills vibe.

we have been here twice and I will recommend it to anyone who is looking for a quick place for some latin food. Prices are great. Service is quick and with a smile.

The chicken and plantains arepas was hot, fresh and full of flavor (see photo). The meat in my companion's beef bowl was overcooked and a bit dry with minimal tomatoes. The server seemed unaware and/or a bit confused when we asked about the beers they served there. Overall worth a try, the beef bowl may be better for the next person.

Flaco’s is an absolute gem that delivers an unforgettable dining experience. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with warm smiles and an inviting atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. The food is nothing short of exceptional—every dish is bursting with authentic flavor and made with the freshest ingredients. The tacos are perfectly seasoned, the burritos are generous and packed with goodness, and the house-made salsa adds the perfect kick.

My girlfriend ordered the plantain and cheese sandwich. There was barely any cheese or plantains. Normally the food is good, but this is crazy.

I think it is more like a takeout restaurant. Small and cute restaurant. But there is a feel a bit of sketchy or something . The bathroom has broken flush and broken vandalized walls. The food was delicious. Tacos were delicious, and bread was fresh. Service was okay. The price was good. Parking is free 5am to 5pm. After that, $5. We enjoyed our visit. ...
