Crema's Take
“Hokey Pokey LA brings authentic New Zealand nostalgia to Los Angeles with their signature soft serve featuring real honeycomb toffee crumble that's light, crunchy, and never overly sweet. The shop nails that perfect balance between indulgent comfort and delicate flavor, with genuinely warm service that makes each visit feel special. If you've craved that distinctly creamy, toffee-kissed experience or want to discover what New Zealand's beloved hokey pokey is all about, this spot delivers the real deal.”

This was so exciting to see, because I have family in New Zealand that I visit often and am very familiar with hokey pokey candy and ice cream! However, sadly this place doesn't use the real candy and in the end I don't think it really tasted like real hokey pokey ice cream. The sign on the menu said that hokey pokey is caramel, which is not true - it's actually honeycomb toffee, which was correct on their flyer, I think. The ice cream was okay, though. Nothing special. And the hokey pokey latte didn't taste anything like hokey pokey and was just a high-priced latte. :( If this place got a little more authentic, I would definitely give it another try!
This ice cream is off the charts. The Hokey pokey is a special light crunchy golden toffee which you could basically put on any ice cream and served in a New Zeland style of soft serve. We tried their Hokey pokey Christmas tree which is a pistachio soft serve and boy we weren't disappointed at all. A must try if you passing by.
I tried the hokey pokey flavour, not too sweet but really tasty!!!!! Worth trying.
This icecream shop serves truly heavenly flavors. The Hokey Pokey - toffeeish honeycomb crumble was so good and indulgent! The server made the experience even sweeter by offering each of us a generous free sample, plus a pup cup for our very happy pup. The affogato was perfection. Even though it was non-dairy, the taste didn’t miss a beat. The bitterness of the espresso balanced beautifully with the creamy sweetness of the Hokey Pokey flavor. We’re so glad we dropped in – this spot is an absolute must-visit.
Hokey pokey is a flavor of ice cream originating in New Zealand that consists of vanilla ice cream plus and bits of honeycomb toffee, very similar to dalgona (made famous in the Squid Games KDrama). Well, with that informative side out of the way, let me tell you about the shop itself. Manned by just two people on a Thursday evening, which is when my friend and I went, they handled everything with such speed, care and attentivene, that I give them a 10/10 for service. The ambiance is great too. Right at the heart of the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The chairs section outside has the Muhammad Ali star mounted on the wall (I think it's the only star with this quality). This is because Cassius Clay (a devout Muslim when he was alive) did not want the name of Muhammad being stepped on by people. As for the ice cream itself? Just fantastic! I had the small Hokey Pokey flavor in a cone and my friend had the affogato. Both 10/10 choices. Will definitely be back.
