Tailwind Cafe And Bar
1424 11th Ave, Seattle, WA
Crema's Take
“Tailwind is a genuinely cozy neighborhood gem where the space itself is as much of a draw as the coffee, with a sprawling patio perfect for Seattle summers and a warm, rainy-day-friendly interior that keeps regulars coming back. Beyond solid espresso drinks like their cardamom oatmilk cappuccino and expertly steamed lattes, they've nailed the details that matter—thoughtful baristas, strong breakfast options, and plenty of outlets and wifi that make it feel natural to linger for hours without pressure. It's the kind of place where locals become repeat visitors because the consistent kindness matches the consistently good coffee.”

Lovely coffee shop, plenty of seating with some outlets for working on your laptop and great breakfast options. The cardamom Oatmilk cappuccino I ordered was fantastic. They have lots of local event posters for biking, crafting, drag and also have a sister bike shop down the road.
Tailwind Cafe is a nice, low-key spot. The coffee was okay for my taste—but the space itself is the highlight. It’s cozy, comfortable, and a great place to sit and relax for a bit.
This is a really cozy spot! Everyone’s always super nice and the food is always awesome. I’ve been two or three times in the last year and that’s been consistent too. It’s a little hidden if you’re new to the area, but there’s plenty of signage once you’re out of the car and on the sidewalk. Fairly accessible, though the doors are a little heavy and there’s no push buttons. Doors open outwards. On my most recent trip I got the mint tea and a croque madam (fried egg on smoked ham with Parmesan and creamy bechamel sauce and Gruyere on sourdough) with arugula salad and a pickle. Really good. I paid about $26 for my food and drink, and this is a place that doesn’t have a tipping system, it’s all in their wages (stated by sign on menu). They did remove the space heaters that used to be above the outdoor table, but I’m not sure if that’s a permanent removal or if it’s because it hasn’t been as cold this week. There’s a cute public firepit right next door though, and once I finished my food/returned the dishes I moved there to relax. There’s a bathroom down a hallway that’s shared with other businesses that has a door code, so make sure to ask if you need it! Glad to visit once again, and glad I remembered to review this time. 😂
Such a lovely space to grab coffee, a drink, or just hangout! An amazing patio for the summers, and such a cozy vibe for rainy days. I came first time in 2020 and got a coffee and a flat fixed and everyone was so nice. It’s only gotten cuter since then and such a beautiful space. From what I could tell the space is mostly utilized for the cafe but I’m not a local anymore so I’m sure they still provide bike services at good weather as well!
The barista was kind, attentive, and able to track the line even when customers arriving didn’t stand in one. He made me an excellent, smooth oatmilk matcha latte and the milk was rich enough that he could shape the foam into a leaf decoration on top. The one type of vegan pastry available was fresh and tasty. The place has a bicycling theme and is massive inside with loads of seating options. Worth walking down the alley (enter from 11th) to reach it. There’s a slight foul smell seeming to emanate from the back of the alley but that’s the only atmospheric ding I noticed.
