Elitist Coffee
154 Valley St UPPER LEVEL, West Orange, NJ
Crema's Take
“This Black and Mother-Daughter owned spot in West Orange has carved out a welcoming sanctuary where serious coffee meets genuine community, with their Cuban Latte earning particular devotion from regulars. Beyond expertly pulled espresso and thoughtful pour overs, Elitist delivers on atmosphere with spacious seating, weekend DJs, and a staff that makes you feel like you belong—though do note the $10 minimum and arrive hungry for their top-notch croissants and full breakfast menu. Whether you're settling in with a laptop for hours or lingering over conversation, the relaxed vibe and commitment to inclusivity make this feel less like a coffee shop and more like a gathering place that actually cares.”

Went here on a whim today and am happy I did! The relaxed vibe was nice and staff was welcoming and courteous. Earl’s Croissant was top notch, just be prepared for the spice! The Cuban Latte was smooth and tasty (I’d recommended another espresso shot if you like a little more bite like I do). The space is huge and the overall aesthetic, from music to furniture, was beautiful. If you find yourself in the area, give them a try!
Really nice coffee shop with tons of seating. I was there on a Saturday morning and there was a DJ spinning tunes. This place has a great vibe I'll definitely be back. Be warned, there is a $10 minimum for credit cards which is strange for a coffee shop! They also seem to have a GoFundMe, which I always find strange for a for-profit busines.
Hubby and I went. We Love the vibe, ambience. Spacious, comfy. Had the turkey bacon, muenster cheese and egg on a large fresh croissant and a cuban coffee with oat milk. DELICIOUS!! Will be back with my girlfriends!!
Elitist Coffee is such a cozy spot in South Orange. It’s Black and Mother-Daughter owned, and a small business elevating the coffee lover’s experience. The staff is always warm and welcoming, and the vibe inside just makes you want to relax and stay awhile. The food is fresh and delicious, and I don’t mind paying a little extra because the quality is truly there. And their coffee? Incredible — they roast and brew it themselves, and you can taste the difference. Highly recommend! This place is for those of us who appreciate a great atmosphere and quality experience.
Very nice place. Staff was friendly and Cuban latte was delicious. Next time I’ll have lunch, the menu looked good. They appear to have the same political views as I. Support immigrants. I’ll go back the next time I’m there. Carry cash; it’s a $10 minimum for credit/debit cards. Black and women own this place. I’ll definitely be back when I’m up north!
