Crema's Take

Black Cow Cafe is beloved for their homemade ice cream creations, especially their signature cafogato pairing house cold brew with creamy vanilla ice cream, and their distinctive prickly pear offerings that draw repeat visitors to this Sedona spot. The staff's genuine warmth and thoughtfulness—from accommodating dietary restrictions to creating a welcoming family atmosphere—makes this a place where people want to linger and return again and again. It's the kind of cafe where you come for exceptional, creative frozen treats but stay for the unhurried vibe and the feeling that the owners genuinely care about their guests.

This was a must stop for pricky pear ice cream and it did not disappoint. Staff is so friendily. Definitely a place you must stop at for so really good ice cream.

Their cafogato is perfectly delicious: It's their house cold brew with a scoop of their homemade vanilla ice-cream (and cream I believe). Their Ice Cream had me thinking it was whipped cream as to how smooth and flavorful it was. Home-made pastries, home-made ice cream & their team is always friendly regardless of the day or time it made me a returning customer. Their blueberry scones are not sweet, pair well with their Chai. Their pies are warmed to order. Their oatmeal-almond-cranberry cookie was sweet and delicious & I paired it with their black cold-brew. Their lattes were not sweet and crafted deliciously. I visited daily and will return and recommend.

We came here 9 years ago and the vibe is definitely different. The pie is not as good as it use to be. We barely visited this trip. Bummer because last trip we came every single day. It just is not as fresh and delicious. Seems like store bought almost.

Staff was so friendly and made our experience! We stopped in for an ice cream for one, as one of us has food allergies. They heard us mention it and shared they had a dairy-free strawberry sorbet in back specifically for allergies. It was untainted, handled with care, separate utensils, etc. It is a dream to find restaurants that cannot only accommodate allergies but take such special care to ensure safety of their customers. Thank you! My prickly pear and vanilla ice cream was so yummy and the allergy-free sorbet was such an unexpected, delicious surprise to the day.

i heard about this place a few years ago while staying at Hannagans Meadow. we ended up hanging out with the owners and we were talking prickly pear jellys and such when they told us they own an ice cream shop in Sedona with prickly pear ice cream...fast forward a few years an i'm finally in Sedona. i promised to stop if i was ever in the area so i did (side note trying to find parking to get here was super frustrating) got the hot dog and a cup of prickly pear ice cream. the hot dog was not what i was expecting (you know basic dog on a basic bun) but man was it GOOD! it was stuffed into a bun like bread thing with everything inside. the prickly pear ice cream which i waited years to try? over the top yummy! I'm so glad i didn't give up on finding a parking spot! the place is tiny and had a long line but it moved pretty quick. it only has a few tables that seat 2 people each...to go is the way to go (ate the hot dog there but took the ice cream to go). forgot to take pictures until we were walking back to the car and had already gotten through half the ice cream!!
