Green Sage Cafe - Downtown
5 Broadway St, Asheville, NC
Crema's Take
“This downtown Asheville staple has mastered the art of the neighborhood gathering spot, with plenty of space to linger over a cortado or cold brew that regulars rave is consistently smooth and flavorful. Beyond the solid espresso work, Green Sage wins hearts with its thoughtful food program—think golden turmeric lattes and celebrated vegan options like their standout Havana Bowl—making it equally worthy of a quick breakfast run or a full work-day setup with friends.”

Had a wonderful quick breakfast. Great menu, lots of space, and lovely people. Will happily visit next time I am in town.
We had the Havana Bowl and it was the best vegan meal we had on our trip from kansas to north Carolina. Highly recommend. And, downtown Asheville is amazing.
We stopped in as we were visiting from out of town. Wonderful options. I had an extra golden turmeric latte, and breakfast. A very nice treat.
Great spot for breakfast or lunch! We ordered a cold brew, iced latte, and a cortado — all three were excellent. The coffee was smooth and flavorful, exactly what we needed. We each got a breakfast burrito, and they were fantastic — hearty, fresh, and super satisfying. Service was quick, and everything came out hot and fast. We didn’t stay long, just grabbed our food and drinks, but it hit the spot. Definitely a go-to if you want quality coffee and a solid bite without the wait.
Green Sage Cafe quickly became our go-to spot during our trip to Asheville—so much so that my friends and I went every single day for five days straight. From the very first visit, we were hooked. The iced latte is hands down one of the best I’ve ever had—smooth, perfectly balanced, and consistently delicious. And don’t even get me started on the breakfast burritos… they’re absolutely loaded, full of flavor, and somehow even better each morning. What really stood out beyond the food and drinks was the atmosphere. The vibe inside is calm, welcoming, and full of good energy. Whether we were just grabbing a quick bite or taking our time to relax and plan the day, it felt like the perfect place to reset. There’s a focus on wholesome, nourishing food that doesn’t sacrifice taste at all, and the menu has something for everyone. The staff deserves a big shout-out too—every single person we interacted with was friendly, upbeat, and genuinely kind. It didn’t matter how busy the place got, they always had a smile and treated us like regulars. That kind of hospitality goes a long way, especially when you’re traveling. By the end of the trip, it didn’t even feel like a question—“Where are we going for breakfast?” The answer was always Green Sage. If you’re visiting Asheville and want quality coffee, amazing food, and great people, this is the spot. Highly, highly recommend.
