I usually do not take it upon myself to feel compelled enough to write a low review- but my experience was just so distasteful that I feel like I need to share so that the owner is aware of what a basic customer might think upon a first visit. Looking for a new coffee shop in St. Paul (I’m a resident) and decided to take my partner to Yellowbird in St Paul. Not only was it almost $20 for two basic lattes with no modifications, but we both took one sip and ended up trashing them. They were basic lattes with one flavor. Not sure if the team member forgot the espresso- but we both thought we were drinking straight milk. Also- the clutter and disorganization is a slight turn off. I totally understand an eclectic feel of a cozy coffee shop- but my first thought upon entry was myself questioning the cleanliness behind the counter. Hope this helps the team to know what regular residents are seeking and can offer insight into the ratios used for an iced latte for other customers.

Edited: The owner acknowledged only half of my review. To which I will respond, it’s not the fault of the customer that you can’t figure out a way to secure your cash. Moreover, I don’t care that you’re a victim. And the unwelcomeness was proven as they wished me luck finding another place. Don’t waste your money here. They don’t care about their customers and only want you to care about them. Gross virtue signaling nonsense. Yellowbird Coffee does not accept cash — a policy I find exclusionary and inconsistent with the ethical image they project. Whether intentional or not, cashless-only operations send a clear signal about who is welcome here. The seating situation didn’t help. With no other seats available, I sat by the window — nothing indicated it wasn’t open seating, and I positioned myself all the way to the right to stay out of the way. About ten to fifteen minutes into my work, an employee began loudly and aggressively packing boxes of pastries right next to me, making a point to get into my space — seemingly trying to nudge me out. When I asked if I was in his way, he politely said no — classic Minnesota Nice — but the energy said otherwise. The Earl Grey Latte was bland and unimpressive, which might have been forgivable if the experience around it weren’t so unwelcoming. Unless you fit the “vibe” and don’t mind a business that preaches values while practicing exclusion, I’d look elsewhere. I won’t be back.

It’s a cute cozy place, sometimes places like this make you just stop for a moment and breathe… I believe when your not stressed for a single moment of your infinity, you notice beauty in the small things, like this…See the cute leaves made of cascading hearts in this pothos… I think it’s a sign, like don’t worry, today….today, let your heart grow towards the light…btw the chai latte and turkey sammy was yummy 😋, will visit soon

I’ve been dying to try this place for the longest time. Finally got the chance to go. I went there to do some homework. I ordered a white chocolate hot latte with almond milk (I was thinking of getting iced, but the barista suggested I get hot if I was going to stay and do homework). I also got a blueberry muffin. This place gets 5 big booms 💥💥💥💥💥
