Crema's Take
“Commune embraces a farm-to-table ethos with serious attention to sourcing local, natural ingredients that shine through in standout dishes like their moist, perfectly seasoned chicken and beautifully textured corn waffles. The communal seating setup creates an intentionally convivial atmosphere where you're likely to share a large farm table with fellow diners, making it feel less like a typical coffee shop and more like a gathering place. Their weekend brunch menu swings for the fences with creative offerings like sweet potato bowls and fried mushrooms alongside excellent service that takes time to guide you through the menu.”

I wanted to try something different outside of the regular breakfast/brunch menus and this place got my attention when I checked online. I had the sweet potato bowl😋 and it was delicious!!! Different and exotic combination of flavors, loved it❤️ oh and the Peanut butter honey Cafe latte with oatmilk was exquisite!🙌
Hearty meals best for breakfast or brunch on the weekend. Some items were amazing while others were amiss. Highly recommend the chicken friend mushrooms. Do not recommend the big salad since most of the root vegetables were undercooked and hard in the middle.
Everything was local, natural, and delicious. Texture of everything was beautiful, bursting with flavor. Chicken was moist and seasoned, waffle was gorgeously textured and almost fruity from the corn, the sandwich was juicy and buttery and flavorful with so many textures marrying together! It felt like all the food was prepared with respect for its origins, and that came through wonderfully. Literally the only thing that didn’t totally delight me, was that the holly tea just wasn’t my thing, as it’s more savory than tea-like, but I’m still glad I tried it! It was cool to have a truly local option! I loved this place, would love to go back someday, if I’m ever back in VA Beach!
We enjoyed this interesting restaurant. Communal seating - you will likely not sit at a table alone. We had two others at the other end of the table. It seemed as if this was the norm: large farm table with different parties at each end of the table. I enjoyed my fried rice bowl. My husband had the Commune Burger and said it was tasty but needed some substance. Each time he took a bite the burger patty squeezed out. Excellent service. Nothing to damper the sound so it is a bit noisy.
Jaimie provided excellent service and was very attentive, taking the time to explain the menu thoroughly. I appreciate the farm-to-table concept, which adds a fresh and considerate touch to the dining experience. While the prices are on the higher side, the food is flavorful and well-prepared. The restaurant has a pleasant atmosphere, and the staff is professional and welcoming. It
