Crema's Take
“This serene matcha specialist captures the essence of traditional Japanese tea culture with a modern New York twist, earning particular praise for their strawberry matcha latte and recently launched fruit sandos featuring premium milk bread from Pairing Cafe. While reviews are mixed on their core matcha offerings, the shop shines as a beautifully designed gathering space perfect for lingering over a leisurely afternoon, with standout drinks like their black sesame matcha latte and hojicha earning devoted fans. The spacious, peaceful atmosphere makes it an ideal spot to work or meet, especially when you arrive before the lunch rush transforms the intimate café into a bustling hub.”

Larger than their EV location that closed. Their matchas are so mid and overrated :/ - Matcha latte: 2/10, mid and powdery - Hojicha latte: 3/10, better than the matcha but still not great - Brown sugar matcha latte: 5/10, better than the other options - Dubai chocolate cookie w/ Oishii strawberry ($11.50): 9/10, limited edition Valentine’s Day weekend special. The best Dubai chocolate cookie I’ve had (compared to Grace Street and Seoul Sweets). The strawberry was very fresh. Pistachio filling was good quality, and the marshmallow exterior wasn’t too thick. Size is really small tho, esp for the expensive price 😟 basically $6 a bite, which is lowkey insane
Isshiki is best known for their strawberry matcha latte, and I finally came here to try their matcha and recently launched fruit sando (using milk bread from Pairing Cafe) *Strawberry Cream Sando $10 *Strawberry Matcha Cream Sando $11.5 ** You can add $1.5 to swap the original cream for matcha cream on any of their fruit sandos. The matcha version is my favorite, as the earthy flavor is balanced by the sweet and ripe strawberries. The strawberries are evenly layered throughout the entire sando, not just a few pieces you see in the cross section. *Strawberry Matcha Latte $8.5 (M) ** First time trying their bestselling strawberry matcha and WOW I get the hype! The housemade strawberry puree was amazing, with real strawberry bits throughout. The matcha was richer than expected too, which you could tell from its deep green color. *Egg Salad Sando $12.5 Loved that they offer a savory sando option! I just wish it had more filling for the price, as it felt on the smaller side. *White Chocolate Hojicha $9 (M) A warm, cozy drink perfect for a snowy day❄️ The hojicha was rich and chocolatey, with a nice foamy texture.
I stopped by this matcha shop around 2 PM, hoping to grab a good matcha and possibly make it a regular spot near my workplace. When I arrived, the café wasn’t busy, but the two baristas were chatting with each other. That in itself wasn’t an issue, however I did feel a bit unwelcomed — almost like I was interrupting their conversation. Even while taking and preparing my order, the chatting continued nonstop. I was standing right at the bar waiting for my drink, and I honestly felt a bit uncomfortable seeing my matcha being made while the barista was continuously talking. I wish there had been a bit more focus and professionalism during drink preparation, especially at that price point. The matcha itself was okay, but not particularly memorable for $9.50. It wasn’t bad, just not something I’d go out of my way for. I really wanted to like this place and make it my go-to matcha spot nearby, but the service experience was disappointing. With a bit more attentiveness and professionalism, I think this place could be much better.
Beautiful spot with great vibes and delicious matcha; we had hojicha latte (good) and black sesame matcha latte (phenomenal!). The only thing that could be done differently is opting for porcelain mugs instead of paper cups for those who order in rather than to go.
Super cute place, we came at just the right time because it got super busy at one point. I ordered a strawberry matcha with whole milk and it was quite good, and sweet. I could taste the matcha. My only gripe is that I ordered a medium and got a small; the employees did offer to remake it, nicely but I thought that would be wasteful. I would just recommend a better ordering system, it seemed a bit precarious and easy to forget what people ordered.
