Crema's Take

This Portland institution takes its coffee seriously with bold, smooth espresso and thoughtfully executed pour-overs that draw both locals and travelers through its long, minimalist interior. Beyond the exceptional coffee, they've cultivated a genuinely relaxing atmosphere perfect for lingering conversations or a full breakfast, and their seasonal specialties like the mint matcha latte show they're willing to experiment while staying true to their craft. Fair warning: it's popular enough that you might find yourself waiting in line, but the friendly staff and quality of what you're getting makes it worth the patience.

A nice and relaxing place to have a good conversation at. The interior is nice and simple with this location having a long interior feel to it. I tried their seasonal mint matcha latte and it was a good choice for the cold morning.

It’s our first coffee experience in Portland. I’ve loved Stumptown ever since I tried in NYC. Good coffee, and nice atmosphere. I wouldn’t say this store is my favorite one among all the branches, but the staffs were super kind. Was surprised to see a security at the front door- but it was reassuring to know that there’s one considering the fact that a lot of people telling me that the downtown Portland area is a bit dangerous. If you’re in town, Stumptown is definitely a must- whichever branch you go.

Wonderful cafe in downtown Portland Oregon. The espresso is bold yet smooth. Love the matcha and cafe lattes. A busy place with locals and tourists. Nice friendly staff. Nice seating areas. Highly recommended!

Stumptown Coffee Roasters is a Portland favorite for good reason. It’s a place that’s serious about coffee, offering expertly brewed cups with a focus on quality and sustainability. The café itself has a cozy, minimalist design with plenty of natural light, making it a perfect spot to relax and enjoy your coffee. I ordered a classic flat white, and it was smooth, well-balanced, and not overly bitter. The coffee was rich and full of flavor, with a subtle sweetness that made it perfect on its own. What sets Stumptown apart from other coffee shops is their commitment to sourcing high-quality beans and supporting ethical coffee farming practices. Whether you’re a coffee aficionado or just looking for a great cup of joe, Stumptown Coffee Roasters will not disappoint.

When we travel, we like to check out different coffee shops, and during our trip to Portland, we decided to try this one. It was very busy, the line was so long that we had to wait outside until the security guard let us in, and then we still had to wait in line. There was only one cashier taking orders and two baristas making drinks. They were efficient, but having more staff would definitely help reduce the wait time for customers. The coffee itself was excellent. I also ordered a sausage roll, but was surprised to find jalapeños in it since the menu didn’t mention that ingredient.
