Crema's Take

Tucked in Point Loma, Kakawa is a carefully curated coffee destination where the owner's passion for ethically sourced beans shines through in every espresso pull and pour over—you'll taste the difference in a cup that prioritizes flavor clarity over milky smoothness. The intimate, aesthetic space strikes that rare balance between a cozy spot to linger with friends and a quick stop for something truly exceptional, with thoughtful touches like gluten-free treats and creative seasonal drinks like matcha coconut lattes that keep regulars coming back.

Stumbled upon this place on my way to a hiking trail and it did not disappoint. I feel like the challenge with local coffee shops is that the drinks come out too milky or not flavorful. Kakawa does not have that issue, the drinks were so balanced and special. Their breakfast sandwich was light and tasty too. I’ll be going back to grab another cup and a bag of beans:)

5/5 stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I just had to rave about KAKAWA coffee shop! The coffee is truly exceptional, and the service is top-notch. We recently ordered coffee for a small gathering of 15 people, and everything was perfect. The team was friendly, efficient, and clearly passionate about what they do. But it's not just about the great coffee - this shop is a true asset to our community. They're doing something special, and we appreciate it. If you're looking for a reliable, high-quality coffee spot, look no further! Highly recommend! Thank you Gladys!

Aesthetic small coffee shop with a few seating available. I felt rushed at the order counter from the lady. After our orders though she asked how we liked our drinks. The drinks were a little dark for me. I wanted to venture out and try new things. This place is worth a visit. Beef empanada: 3/5 (little dry) Kakawa iced latte w/ oatmilk: 4/5 Mexican mocha iced w/ oatmilk 4/5

A nice and interesting place to get coffee! I enjoyed trying a new coffee, a matcha Coconut iced latte. I also loved they had some gluten free treats to enjoy as well. There were some seats to chat for a little while and relax. Overall a nice neighborhood spot!
