Da Kine's Kava
1114 W Chapel Hill St, Durham, NC
Crema's Take
“This Durham kava bar is a genuinely welcoming introduction to an unfamiliar beverage world, with bartenders like Cameron and Donya who explain what you're drinking without any pressure or sales pitch. Beyond traditional kava, they offer creative blends like the sugar-free Peaceful Warrior and explorer-friendly options with delta 9 and kratom, all served in a chill, study-friendly space with outdoor seating that keeps people coming back.”

Nice location for studying or doing some work. I didn't know what kava was, they were very nice explaining to the extend I was curious. There was no unsolicited suggestions/encouragement towards any drink they were serving which I appreciated. I ended up getting a non-kava unsweetened drink, asked for suggestions and was happy with my drink. I was there for couple of hours, drinking water from my bottle after my drink was finished, and I was not bothered once. Can't think of anything I didn't like, wasn't less welcoming than a nice library café.
Great spot, good vibes, excellent bartenders. Specifically Cameron and Donya behind the bar always serve up the magic and chill tunes. The sugar-free peaceful warrior is the best drink on the menu imo.
This was my first time to a kava bar but it will not be my last! I tried delta 9, kava, and kratom. In the future Id like to isolate my libations to one type per visit so that I can know which substance produces what feelings, but whatever the combo was, I loved it and felt fantastic. I had a great discussion with a random couple I met and got some goodies from the attached smoke shop. There are a ton of cool gifts there. I loved the multiple outdoor seating areas. All were very inviting. I really liked this spot and I'd be a regular if I lived in the area. Def visit!
This was my first time visiting Da Kine's Kava. My drink was refreshing; it was a little different, but I'll be back. I liked the outdoor seating, and the staff was nice.
Never had Kava or visited a non alcoholic Kava bar previously. Stopped by to try the Indo Tea and also got a bottle of Hibiscus Lemonade to go. The Indo Tea was served in a bowl. It had bitter aftertaste but I actually don’t mind the flavor somehow. The Hibiscus Lemonade kava was less bitter and actually refreshing and tasted great. I definitely felt relaxed after drinking the kava.
