Crema's Take
“New General Cafe stands out in Winter Park with its refreshingly minimal, modern aesthetic and a genuine commitment to pristine ingredients that shines through in every dish—from their celebrated house-made granola to inventive bowls like the Chickpea Buddha with perfectly balanced sweet potatoes and chickpeas. The owner's empathetic approach creates a warmly welcoming atmosphere that feels equally suited for a girl's date, a family outing, or solo work, with lush plants and cozy lighting making it the kind of place where you linger over both thoughtfully crafted specialty drinks and remarkably fresh, health-conscious fare. What really sets it apart is that freshness isn't just a promise—it's evident in every bite, earning it genuine love from regulars who appreciate the care taken in both coffee and kitchen.”

The New General really does feel like a different one compared to most spots in Winter Park. I like minimal and modern aesthetic style. Super clean and fresh food as always! The owner is super empathic and kind. We love this local place and always support them! Thank you for the casual but authentic place.
Love everything about New General! The food is always so clean, perfectly delicious and presentation is over the top! Loads of healthy choices... almost ALL! And their house made granola is the ultimate! Also just have to say... employees have worked here for a long time which speaks volumes, this day and age especially!
I visited New General for a girl's date last week and it was so yummy. The food: I got the Chickpea Buddha Bowl and every bite was so fresh. It was a $17 dollar dish made of sweet potatoes, chickpeas, broccoli, avocado, quinoa and kale. I am a little iffy about sauces and I usually ask for the sauce to be on the side for me to taste before deciding if it goes with the combination of foods and flavors but I got the maple tahini dressing in the mix and yup. Yup! It was recommended to get chicken to balance out the amount of dressing that would come in the bowl and I 100% agree. The chicken, seasoned with the perfect herbs tied everything together. SO GOOD. I will be back... for the same dish! They offer vegetarian options and you can add or eliminate what you wish from your dish. Parking: It is Winter Park and can be tricky, however, there is a constant coming and going of visitors so it isn't hard to find parking 30 steps away (at least) from the location. Kid-Friendly: Yes! There were solo dates and family dates and all were welcomed and had space to enjoy their time. Wheelchair Access:Yes! Outside offers flexibility for wheel chair users where you can rearrange the tables and chairs for comfort. Inside, moreson towards the back, there is also more than enough room for furniture to be rearranged. A few gentle "excuse me's" as you enter through the front door and the wheel chair will easily be able to make way to the back for seating.Absolutely. The service: Everyone was pleasant and calm. It was a busy time at 12:30 lunch time but everyone was available and presented themselves approachable even though they were all busy. The atmosphere: A hug. It was so cozy inside and outside. It was very welcoming upon approach and very inviting. I am certain they get many visits simply because of the location and the inviting atmosphere.
I recently visited The General Café in Winter Park for the first time, and I was really impressed! The ambience was beautiful — warm lighting, lush plants everywhere, and a cozy, welcoming vibe. The person who took my order was super kind and had such fun Halloween spirit 🎃! She was also very informative about the menu and offered helpful suggestions about what we could add or change. I researched the place because it was new to me and I come here in Park Avenue often and saw the owner was walking around, so I expected her to come around and greet guests or check on their experiences, but she didn’t — which felt a little odd. That’s honestly the only reason I wouldn’t give a full five stars. I ordered the Vegan Brekkie Sandwich, and while I loved the flavors (especially that spicy sauce!), the House-Made Lentil Sausage was a bit dry on its own. The sauce definitely made up for it though. The Seasoned Potato Wedges were absolutely amazing, and the Drip Coffee (Black) was smooth and flavorful. My boyfriend got the Shroom Avo Toast, and it felt as if it just tasted all the same I couldn’t taste the difference between the shrooms and the avocado. Overall, I really loved the atmosphere and the experience. I’d definitely come back — maybe next time I’ll add some Extra Avocado to my Vegan Brekkie Sandwich. 🌿☕️
I enjoyed (putting it mildly) the Mexicali wrap. No words for the level of freshness, tastiness, thoughtful, creative and perfect mix of ingredients and spices. Pure delight all throughout this meal. Note: ordered as a plater you won’t get a choice of sides so get this as a wrap! For the beverage I loved the Strawberry Rose’ tea served hot! You can tell the pure quality of the tea leaves. The temperature was perfectly hot and steaming but not too hot to burn my tongue. Skillfully prepared dish and beverage and I can’t say enough about New General. The staff was so hospitable and knowledgeable. I asked where their eggs are sourced and they said a local farmer! Sorry I forgot the name of it but I will certainly ask again when I return because knowing how they carefully source is comforting. There are so many choices in our area for good food and coffee so it’s difficult to be a regular but this is my new go-to for vegan options and great hot beverages!
