Black Sheep Coffee

Crema's Take
“Tucked near the Coconut Grove train station, Black Sheep Coffee is a wonderfully inclusive neighborhood gem where families, remote workers, and pups all feel equally welcome to linger. The staff really shines here—patient and genuinely knowledgeable about their espresso-focused menu, they're the kind of baristas who'll take time to guide you toward your next favorite cup rather than just ring you up. Whether you're settling in for a work session with reliable WiFi, stopping by with your dog, or bringing kids who need space to move around, this spot has the spacious, unhurried vibe that makes people keep coming back.”

I have been to Black Sheep Coffee several times, and it has become our family’s favorite coffee shop. The staff is patient, helpful, and kind. My wife and youngest son, who has autism, both love the coffee and the chocolate chip cookies. The ambience is uplifting, the seating is cozy and comfortable, and the eclectic clientele is part of what makes having coffee in Coconut Grove such a delight. As a former Starbucks barista, I know what it is like on the other side of the counter, and what sets Black Sheep Coffee apart is the coffee, the service, and the genuine sense of community. It feels like a true "third place," meaning a welcoming space outside home and work where people can gather, connect, and feel comfortable staying awhile. Sociologist Ray Oldenburg popularized that idea, and some 25 years ago he asked me to write a chapter in his book *Celebrating the Third Place*, so the concept has special meaning for me. I am a disabled senior, and I was impressed enough to even download the app. I also appreciate that the facilities are ADA accessible. I use a walker and get about with ease, which makes the whole experience feel even more welcoming and inclusive. The location is especially convenient if you take the train. You can hop off, grab a coffee, and be on your way. The general manager, Abner, is attentive and professional, and the place reminds me a bit of Uncommon Grounds, a coffee shop I used to visit daily in Berkeley. In my opinion, Black Sheep Coffee is one of the few places in South Florida that truly feels like a real neighborhood coffee shop.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Perfect spot for coffee and work! ☕💻 Excellent coffee and a very welcoming atmosphere. The staff is friendly, and the WiFi is great, making it the perfect place to get some work done. Highly recommended if you're looking for quality coffee and a productive environment!
Black Sheep coffee around is a must go. We came with our toddler and dog and had a good time. There’s enough space inside to sit with your dog and they are pet friendly. The baby was able to move around. The food was fresh. And the coffee and Matcha are out of this world. If you’re in the area, I highly recommend you stop by.
I visited Black Sheep Coffee for the first time today because I’ve been trying a new coffee shop every Saturday, and WOW… what a gem! Abner gave us amazing recommendations and so much knowledge about their drinks, and the coffee ended up being the best I’ve had in a long time. He even stopped by our table to chat and make sure we were loving our drinks. The experience felt personal, genuine, and fun. Because of Abner (and that incredible coffee), I’m officially making this my new Saturday spot!
Nice coffee shop next to the Coconut Grove train station, good for a pit stop when running below the train and pet friendly with a nice wall with photos of all the visitors. The coffee was ok, on the pricer side but also because it was a larger cup, however to us the star was the cookie because it was good and less oily / greasy than all other options we've tried.
