Maru Coffee

My honest opinion, it wasn’t my favorite. I got the iced coffee with the cream top and I’d give it a 6/10. Personally, I like my coffee a bit sweeter. My son ordered the matcha with oat milk and honey, and he said it was pretty plain. He really wanted the cream top, but they told us they don’t do that anymore. That was disappointing because it was one of the main reasons we came. I should’ve read the reviews before deciding. My husband got the hot mocha. He doesn’t like sweet drinks, so for him it was good. Definitely checked it off our bucket list, but it’s not a place we’d return to.

I come here all the time, and this is my first review ever—that’s how serious this coffee is. This place has a signature taste you cannot find anywhere else in Los Angeles. The bonbon and the cream top are iconic—rich, smooth, perfectly balanced, not too sweet, and instantly recognizable. Unique coffee, signature drinks, premium beans, handcrafted, consistent, best coffee in LA. Once you try it, you’re hooked.

I like their mocha made with belgian chocolate, the flavor and the scent is really great. Matcha latte was also nice as it does not taste too earthy at the end and clean. Line may gets long in the morning but it gets to you quite quickly, some wait on drinks to be completed. not many spaces for the seating so I recommend for take outs.

Maru Coffee is such a gem in LA! The interior is clean, minimal, and calming. The staff is always welcoming and helpful, making the whole experience feel warm and personal. I highly recommend the vanilla bean latte; I’d smooth, made with fresh vanilla bean , and easily one of the best lattes I’ve had in the city. Definitely a go-to spot for coffee lovers.

Pretty good coffee shop. Coffee is fairly good here. The creamtop iced coffee drink has sweet thick cream on top, essentially a dessert drink. Fun to try. Espresso is pulled from a La Marzocco machine. The coffee and matcha themselves are enjoyable though not highest tier. However…. The place is full of itself. Used to be able to get matcha with creamtop on it here, or at least cream on the side to top it yourself. Now (summer 2025) the shop has decided they know better than you, and even if you ask nicely and are willing to pay will not let you put creamtop on your matcha or other drinks for the sake of “proper balance of flavors”. What a load of horse hockey. I recommend checking out other local coffee shops with better flavors and more customer centered service. (Eg see my other reviews)
